A Tower of Bones

One had to be very careful when building a tower of dominoes, bones as they were often called in the vernacular. The historians said this was because they were once in some bygone era made of the bones of animals. The linguists said this persisted because bones was a shorter word than Everything had to be taken into account when making a tower of bones.

Stress. Leverage. Friction.

Lanfear was moving. What was she up to now? Some desparate scheme to get Lews Therin Telamon to the Shadow and back into her bed? A snicker from Mesaana as she carefully placed another bone in the tower. Lanfear was a meddlesome wench, for all her beauty she had no sense of subtlety. Using her power and beauty to strongarm her allies and opponents alike. One had to move carefully when constructing a tower of bones.

Now, Asmodean was an interesting move. Much to her own chagrin, he had not fallen apart when that deranged little companion of his had died. There were pieces that could be removed from a tower without it falling, because if one removed a load-bearing support then the entire tower would collapse. This said interesting things about Asmodean.

Why would the cowardly Asmodean join forces with the powerful Lanfear? She was dangerous, and unpredictable. Her delicate fingers placed another bone on the tower, fully nine stories high now. It was impressive, certainly. A pleased smile. A very long time ago before Lanfear opened the Great Lord's prison, before her ill-fated affair with Lews Therin Telamon, Mierin Eronaile as she was then called was involved for quite a long time with a certain composer by the name of Joar Addam Nessossin, a famously tumultuous affair. Inherent flaws in the foundation always caused the tower to fall, no matter how well the higher floors were constructed.

Was Asmodean so foolish as to think that he could win back Lanfear's heart? No, no, she doubted that. Even he was not so foolish. What game was he playing at? What was her goal in working with him? She needed more information. Carefully, one had to move carefully, she place another bone on the tower.

A small tremor.

Then, the entire tower came crashing down. Dominoes, bones as they were sometimes called, spilling across the table. An irritated sigh from Mesaana as she clucked her tongue and folded her arms under her breasts. An unwise move on the third level, an inherent structural flaw caused the entire tower to fall. The question now, was how to proceed.

A keen smile and a chime-like laugh before her thin fingers picked up a bone.Inherent structural flaws only require a tiny amount of pressure in the right place to bring the entire tower of bones crumbling to the ground.
