Of horses and hand injuries

Yeah, I had no idea what to title this journal. Can you tell?

A few days ago at work I was shifting boxes of books around to prepare them for shipping (we have a sharing system with other libraries that allows us to give and receive items that might otherwise be unavailable, like CDs, which my library doesn't carry while a local one might). Now, these boxes are roughly 70-80 pounds apiece, which really isn't too bad in terms of weight (I grew up mining things and lugging around rocks to gem and mineral shows), except that I found out that my wrists can't handle that kind of strain anymore. Seriously, I'm on enough pain meds right now to knock out a horse.

And speaking of horses, I doodled one today near the end of my shift. Not sure why I chose to draw with my hands hurting like they are/were, but whatever. I liked the result (especially since it's been ages since I've drawn either a horse or with ball point pen), so I'm posting it here.

My cheap little pen is very trusty indeed. My scanner, not so much, which is why this is so small and dark, but all the lines should be there, so I guess that's a plus. I really need to start drawing regularly again, which will probably fuck up my hands more, but god, I miss it.
