Hilarious meta: Merlin as a tabletop RPG.

Most of the Merlin fics for Yuletide were really rather good, but my favourites are (in no particular order):
  • Reasons Why -- good Morgana voice, though I would have liked for it to have the time to take a deep breath and slow down, and let itself unfurl.
  • Four Kisses -- a nicely worked foursome, and character dynamics within.
  • That Shall Achieve The Sword -- love the last two lines.
  • Camlann -- a snapshot of the future.
  • The Last Word -- romantic, with the first three-quarters carrying quite an emotional punch, though the last parts may be a little too sugary for some.
  • Merlin, Arthur, and Sir Damas -- this could have been a canon episode, were the writers more keen on outright comedy. :D
  • The Royal Prat and the Cave of Destiny -- Arthur seems a little out of character in that I think there'd be a lot more shouting involved when he finds out about Merlin's magic, but they are trapped in a cave, and the lines are hilarious.
For lunch today I had my favourite trashy Japanese meal ever, tonkatsu and curry rice (and cheap sake -- my father would be horrified), which put me in a good enough mood that the muffins I baked this evening turned out perfect instead of being overmixed. A light heart makes for a light hand.
