I know we didn't have a challenge over at
discoveredinalj although I was willing to try and start one. But Easter is so early this year. (Where are the last three months by the way?) But Doyle promised Bodie some Cadbury creme eggs. The only thing he'll have to do is ride with him to Walton-on-Thames. There he would find his Easter egg.
How the Easter egg became a Gem
a little picture idea by Macklingirl
Doyle promised Bodie some Cadbury Creme Eggs if he would spend the Easter weekend with him in Walton-on-Thames. And since Bodie loves his Cadbury Creme Eggs he said okay.
They were lucky, the weather was good when they arrived in Walton-on-Thames. Bodie was already looking for the pub, while Doyle sat behind him on his motorbike. "Stopp there, on the green", Doyle called and like the good friend and lover Bodie was he stopped.
"Have you seen this house on the other side? That's it, that's your Easter Egg", Doyle beamed. They got off the bike and Bodie turned around.
"That on? That's a ruin, Ray."
"I know, but take look inside and you will see its potential. Please, Bodie."
They walked through the empty space where the door should have been and took a look. There was a bar that was pushed into the corner and there were chairs and stools lying around. It looked as if the old owners had left in a hurry. There weren't any floorboards on the ground, only some old and ugly wood.
"Oh Ray, that would be a lot of work to make this into something decent again", Bodie said.
"Yes, I know. But it will be worth it. I know the owner of the house, it's the father of my cousin's best friend. And he wants to get rid of it, one way or the other. And I really would like to try."
"Okay, love. Let's speak with him. If it doesn't cost too much we can try it."
They had a successful chat with the owner and after two-and-a-half-hour they were the fresh owner of the old pub from Walton-on-Thames. And the other day they started working.
They replaced the door and the steps and Bodie laid the new wood floor
while Doyle painted the outer wall
And they gave the house a new name (but it is only one piece of the whole name)
To be continued sometime around Christmas.
I hope you like my little silliness and Easter story which will find its end sometime around Christmas this year.
