Jon's off watching Watchmen with Luke and some others, and I had to work today (not to mention I have no interest in seeing Watchmen - not my thing, sorry guys), so here I am at home alone on a rainy Sunday. Which definitely isn't a complain, for the record. I desperately need to do laundry and pack to head home for a few days. And while I'm here, why not update?
Pitt beat UConn, again! And this time Calhoun managed not to make an ass of himself in the media. Though Pitt had a great showing in their final game of the regular season, I'm going to go down another path. First off, the Pitt women play in their first Big East tourney game tonight, ranked #19 in the nation! An absolutely awesome job by Agnes Beranato to turn the program around. It's great to see the Pitt women play at such a high level. Next, I've absolutely got to wonder: Why the hell did the Bills pick up TO? He's a locker room toxin. He poisons every team he goes to. I don't care if he might occasionally - and I stress OCCASIONALLY - make a good catch. But he drops a ton of them. I really don't think he's a consistently good player, and I can't ever recall him taking responsibility for a poor game. How can a player develop if he doesn't admit to his mistakes and correct them?? That aside, ESPN.com's poll asks what kind of impact he will have on the Bills: positive, negative, or nothing significant. And for some reason, the majority of people think he'll be a positive influence.
TO. Positive. Uh huh. I'm going to need a LOT of explaining on that one, not that I would believe it for a second. Sure, plenty of teams thought that they could turn him around and get him to shape up. The Eagles and the Cowboys come to mind. Ask any coach or teammate from those teams what they think of him. I'm pretty sure I could rest my case there.
But (thankfully) he does not play for any of my teams, though I must send my condolences to Sarah. I'm so sorry about your upcoming football season, and the media coverage in Buffalo.
Moving on, Jon and I had Leann and Luke over for dinner last Thursday. It was great to have real food with friends! Except I added a tablespoon of baking soda instead of corn starch to the pepper steak. It made a great fizzing! It didn't taste bad, but I do think the consistency was off, even after I added the cornstarch. And for the record - the two substances are the same fine white, dense consistency and clump the same way, and come in very similar boxes! It's a mistake anyone could have made. But dinner was great, Luke brought wine, and Leann brought carrot cake (mmmmmmmmmmmm). And then we played Killer Bunnies, because nothing says classy like a nice dinner and then offing bunnies with nuclear missiles, chunky jello, and the ebola virus.
