Borders, I hate them!

And I'm not even talking about the borders between countries, though I hate those too.

No, I'm talking about wanting to crochet a border around a knitted square, and while that's no problem for the cast on and cast off side, it's a huge problem with the vertical sides.
The number of stitches per side is determined by the number of stitches which were cast on. 56 stitches. So in each stitch of the lower and upper border I need to work one stitch.

Unfortunately, in knitting, a stitch is longer then wide, meaning I have had to knit more rows then I had stitches per row, to get a square. Meaning, I have to guesstimate how many stitches to work into each stitch at the vertical sides to get flat laying borders where the stitches all around are evenly distributed.

Horrible, horrible work. Trial and error and whether one got it right or not is only decided once one worked in the last stitch of the first round.

I simply had to take a break from that, so I knitted a ribbed baby hat in under three hours last evening. Just sat on my bed, knitting and knitting and knitting. Didn't even listen to an audiobook or read.

This morning I found that the FAQ for our Sternchen group was on, great! I think Anja postet it last evening, which might explain why there were some small mistakes in the layout, she was simply too tired for it.
Petra from the charity organisation wrote that she had some things to add and whether we should phone or she should write a mail... told her now to call me. And now I'm waiting for her call.

Decided that if LilliLandfein has pretty skeins in her Dawandashop when I go "CKAL prize shopping" then I'll buy from her. She puts much love and thought into each skein and how it's wrapped, she deserves to be known to a wider public.

Haven't heard from Steffi yet. I told Anja about what had taken place, without naming names, and Anja said, quite cleverly, that Steffi might feel ashamed. Or guilty.
So I went and left Steffi a note on her blog, not talking about the incident but that it's boring without her. Maybe she'll reacts on this. And if not, then I'll know whether she's friend material or not.

I got back my GameFAQs account and am still facepalming over my own stupidity. True, I forgot the email adress which is connected to that account. But I also forgot, that the username can replace the email adress when trying to log in.

SBAllen probably had a good laugh about me. Oh well. I'm back, and that's what counts!

knitting, schmetterlingskinder, happy
