Saturday evening.
People enjoy the weekend, go partying, to the clubs or to the next pub, or spend the evening at home, on the couch. Watching TV.
And what does the crafter do? He or she spends her time online, checking the various boards for crafts.
In my case, I checked out Ravelry. Helped a bit here, joked around there. And remembered a problem I encountered when trying to knit the border for the Strawberry Stole, a pretty lace stole worked in berry stitch with two borders worked in vine stitch.
Strictly following the instructions for the border I soon found out, that the stitch count must be off. I contacted the designer, a very nice and helpful lady. But I couldn't make sense of her tips. So I asked on the German Knitter board, and the ladies rose to the occasion! They worked out two versions for the vine stitch border which will use up all 101 stitches, one lady even charted the whole thing for me! Ravelry is truly a great place, and I've yet to find a Raveler, male or female, who isn't nice or helpful.
On one of the Big 6 boards a Ravelry asked for help with a French pattern for a crocheted scarf. At the moment I'm busily knitting on my Kuschel Deluxe shawl, a huge shawl which is meant to substitute for a light summer jacket. But of course I need some distraction and some relaxing from all the knitting and purling.
So I grabbed a crochet hook and a pretty pink-white varigated yarn and started to work on the scarf.
Next week I'm expecting several parcels. I ordered a fibula to close the shawl with, a stamp set, depicting walnuts and acorns, I want to use them as ex libris. I find that my relatives are interested in the books I read and like to lend them out.
Oh, and I ordered a pretty pendant, a miniature picuture of van Goghs Starry Night.

Thursday mom departed for Italy, she'll be spending two of her holiday weeks there, in Sorrent, near Rome. Tomorrow they'll visit Pompej!!! I wish I could go too.
Grandma finally allowed me to knit her wrist warmers. She often has cold hands, and I read that wrist warmers help to keep the blood in the wrists warm, which in turn will keep the hands warm and flexible. She told me again that she loves the wrap I made her for last Christmas, and that she constantly wears it when she's at home.
I told her, that mom found the old cardigan which grandma knitted me, roughly 15 years ago. Back then I never wore it, the arms where too long and the cardigan was too big and shaped like a sack. Now mom wanted me to throw it away.
But I couldn't. I know now how much time, energy and love it takes to knit such a big thing. Heck, I nearly cried. And put it on. And it was warm and comfy! The arms were still to long, but I rolled up the sleeves and just fell in love with the cardigan.
Currently it sits safely in my wardrobe, and it will stay there. I'll keep it and wear it whenever I feel like I need a hug from grandma.

Steffi send me a gift, pretty selfmade stitchmarkers! She asked for a picture of them, hopefully the sun will be out tomorrow, then I can go out and take some pretty pictures of them.
