Andrew Desmond was my cousin.

I couldn't believe it when my mother e-mailed me at work this morning. I had to read the e-mail twice. I am not very close to my mother's side of the family, but nonethless, this is just awful. I think the last time I saw him was when I was 13. Such an awful waste of life. The funeral is friday, where I will see a lot of family members that I haven't seen in years. My mother will be going with me to the funeral. I hope that she can resolve a few of her differences with her family. Not speaking to people just isn't worth it sometimes. I am not sad because I didn't really know him at all. It just makes me think -- gosh 27, that is nothing, way too young. I don't do well at funerals, and I really hope that this is closed casket.
