***I dedicate this one to T***
I had a Angel dream (As in Buffy's Angel.)
In the dream I was Spike, but I was also pretending to be Spike, but I was also dreaming that I was Spike in the typical phantasmagoria of the dreamscape. For a while I had to cover my nakedness with an ill-fitting shirt (a ragged purple shirt that I have both worn as nightclothes AND dreampt about before, although I have not worn said garment in years) to hide the fact that I was naked, as well as a girl. But then I had my Spike gear on and all was well.
But things kept slipping away from me as I was ready to give The Big Reveal at the end of the episode. For one thing my in-laws were done with the movie they had gone to see (I was playing this Game-Of-Spike to kill time) and I had to tell them "Oh wait, I'll be right back" knowing that they were going to have to wait a while, I certainly was no where near done. So I had to actually explain it to my husband, which I was fortunately able to do with cooperating visual aids (at this point in dreams my props tend to stop working. This prop was a leather sword belt that, when donned, made me look like Spike.) He was less-than-thrilled that he would have to wait for me while I engaged in some Angel-RPG, and his only comment was "Is this some gay thing?" Which I had to admit, it was, since I was a girl pretending to be a guy, therefore, SOMEWHERE some crossgender somesuch would occur, and it would probably indeed be 'a gay thing.'
Things were further complicated when the REAL Spike, who was supposed to run away very fast and meet me at another spot, called me via telepathic abilities (although I held one finger to my ear the whole time as if I were talking to him on an earpiece) to say that his powers were running out. I took this as some petty, fractious Storyteller trying to undo my evil schemes by leaching power off of the real Spike, who was calling me from a diner, in the middle of the day. I never had time to ask if he was surviving the daylight. I was more interested in why he had chose to run off right at that moment instead of AFTER the big reveal like we had planned.
NOTE: It is particularly difficult to reveal your big secrets with suave and flair when you have to stop and pantomime a phone call, speaking out loud to your absent partner in crime, saying, "And this was better than my plan....how?"
