30 days of song: Days 12, 13, 14 & 15

I'm behind on this meme again, partly because I've been travelling all over the country and partly because these questions are really difficult.

Day 12: A song from a band you hate

This question produced the most angst because I just couldn't come up with a band I hate. I'm not the band-hating type.  Eventually, though, I remembered my hatred of Badly Drawn Boy.  I hate his boring music (which was everywhere in 2000); I hate his stupid beard and hat, but most of all I hate him because some of my friends persuaded me to go to one of his gigs and it was just fucking awful. It went on forever, he kept popping out (presumably for some kind of relaxant) and was barely in a state to play. I've been to a lot of gigs but his was the most disrespectful to the audience that I've ever experienced.

Day 13 - A song that is a guilty pleasure

I dislike the concept of having a "guilty pleasure" because what we really mean is "embarrassing pleasure", or rather, "pleasure that makes me fear losing status in the eyes of my friends". Anyway, putting that issue to one side, I like a lot of music that could be considered a bit embarrassing, but I think this is the sort of thing the meme wants from me:

Just hearing this song cheers me up and makes me want to sing along with Bonnie. I love the fantastically nonsensical video too.  Andy thinks it's about a sexually frustrated female headteacher at a boys' boarding school. The final scene is positively alarming.

Day 14: A song that no one would expect you to love

How would I know? Since I'm not telepathic, I'm not the best judge of what other people would expect of me with regards to song preferences. So I asked Andy for her opinion and she said she didn't think many people would expect me to like Metallica.

I really do enjoy 'Enter Sandman', although I couldn't tell you why.  Sometimes I just like things that are very over-the-top, which is probably why my favourite version of 'Enter Sandman' is the one with the full orchestra.   Mind you, this Kazoo version is pretty damn good too.

Day 15: A Song that describes you

I had to turn to Andy for help again here. She picked out Johnny Cash's cover of 'I Won't Back Down' by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Her rationale for this is that I'm determined and resolute and stand my ground. OK then.
