On a community, someone asked about the labels which ones applies to oneself.
Here's what I put in response:
Musician
Singer (with a piece of paper to prove it)
Soprano
Coloratura
Happiest above the stave, miserable in the middle of it
Choirgeek
Pretty damn good sightreader, if I say so myself
Eater of Renaissance polyphony for breakfast ;-)
A cappella devotee
Non-stereotypical (with apologies to sopranos everywhere)
Fond of the good hard challenging stuff ;-)
Lieder fan
...with a particular feeling of connection to Schubert
Language Geek
generalised dabbler therein
given to reading obsessively about languages and dialects just that little bit removed from my own
far too fond of archaic forms of languages
formerly good at French
and terribly ashamed at the deterioration of my command of it
Knitter
of socks
with DPNs
generally of the 2.5mm variety
in cinemas (as quietly as possible, stockinette in the round only)
for less than a year so far
Dancer
lapsed and mediocre
rubbish with a bad lead, self-surprisingly good with a competent one
pants at free-form dancing
far fonder of ceilidhs
Modern more than Latin
happiest when waltzing

still very much a novice

and terribly fond of geekboys
to the extent that they probably constitute a good 75% of my friends
and of the opinion that geekdom is as much a way of looking at life as a set of skills or specialist knowledge
