Life trundles on apace. Did Grade 8 singing, got a Distinction. Diploma next year sometime.
Pretty good concert (Mozart extravaganza) at Wolfson - the
string quartet there was really excellent; must try to see them more often. I sang a silly cadenza in my aria (Bester Jüngling, from Der Schauspieldirektor), and generally had fun with it. Weird to think that about 9 years ago, when a choir of mine did the Solemn Vespers, I would never in a million years thought I would sing the soprano solo bit of the Laudate Dominum, but this term I just got asked "Hey, do you want to have a go at this?". It's also a horrendous earworm, especially the "et misericordia eius" bit.
Yesterday was my sister's birthday; she's 19 now. Really ought to get her to visit me here sometime.
If you're free this evening, and wish to see a performance of Messiah on period instruments, come to Great St. Mary's for 7. Tickets range from £8 to £20, students £5 on the door. Should be well worth it - I know at least two of the soloists to be absolutely fantastic. We're repeating the performance in Oundle tomorrow, also at 7.
