'mongst men being most unfit to live

Some nights, it seems easier not to sleep.

He looks at the clock to discover that it's half seven and decides, after brief consideration, that it's best just to stay up and continue working. He won't get much sleep now. He started work a little late the day previous, anyway. Between his reports, he works out a schedule for coffee and napping. Every even hour, he brews an espresso, cherishes it, and returns to his work. An hour and forty-five minutes later, he takes a fifteen-minute nap and then repeats the cycle.

He's extremely proud of his system; it's efficient and functional. He prints out his finished reports and brings them to Jack to sign. Then, suddenly, he realizes he's in the Archives holding a stack of papers. He has no idea how he got there or how long he's been standing there. He takes a twenty-minute nap this time, and drinks two espresso.

He returns to his computer... and comes to on Jack's couch.

He gets a stern talking-to, which he suffers with a few eyerolls and some well-placed eyebrow raises. Jack suggests (and then orders) taking the rest of the day off and, with gratitude carefully concealed by sarcasm, Ianto passes out in Jack's bunk.

The next time he decides to stay up, Jack quietly stays up with him.
