Is this group dead?

Is this community dead? There hasn't been much activity, I'm just wondering if I'm wasting my time.

fakenews_fanfic

I recommend still belonging to this comm as well tho' since there's a lot of great fic that's still locked to members in the archives.

I've went through the whole archive, unfortunately, lovely results, but it would it would be awesome if it was still 'active'. :(
But I assume discussion has died because of TDS and TCR's lack of slashiness lately.

A lot of it is having to actually belong to the comm (so many authors lock the heck out of their stuff and with good reason and the daily Open Thread is locked to members only) and I know last summer there was a big falling out in the fandom (due largely to the Olivia Munn "article" posted on the Jezebel website) within itself, and I'll just say that some of the behavior caused a several long-time and frequent writers to depart the fandom and/or not frequent the same fan comms they once did.

I still vote that it's pretty slashy, but it has had a criminal lack of tosses (I define "criminal" as "not every night" but I'm willing to be lenient in the hopes we get thrown a bone so it's at least every WEEK).
I know you're looking for fic (and I'm not sure if you're into Tumblr), but there are a number of fabulous
picture/video/graphic/etc. comms on Tumblr that offer some pretty rare stuff and also occasionally discuss fic:

Fuck Yeah, The Daily Show!

Fuck Yeah Jon and Stephen

Fuck Yeah Jon Stewart

Fuck Yeah Stephen Colbert

Fuck Yeah ... )

even when there was an abundance of slash fodder, it wasn't any more active than it is now. it has more to do with people leaving the fandom than the fake news continuum itself, to be honest. of course, there's still an open thread every day. people still post fic.

personally, i feel that TDS has steadily declined in quality since i joined the fandom, and olivia munn just being there was the last straw for me. but, you know, if you really want to be apart of the community, make the best of it. the beauty of fake news is that it branches out into many other paradigms. it's not just tds and tcr.

I'm quite new to the fandom so I only know about the Wonkette ordeal (Just read about the Olivia Munn incident, that was...just...I really don't know what to say about that pot of stew :\).

But I'm wringing whatever I can get out of EVERYTHING (associated groups and the like), trust me. ^-^

Actually, fakenews_fanfic used to be so much more active than it is now. A *lot* more. I miss how it used to be.

That's what thought when I looked at the history, oh well, shame on me for catching on late.

On the upside, it's not dead (we've gone through lulls before), it's just sleeping, so now's actually a great time to catch up on the awesome fic you missed. If there's a particular pairing or genre or set-up you're looking for, ask if anyone knows of a good [whatever kind of fic you'd like] either here or (more successfully) in the fakenews_fanfic Open Thread (once again, they're locked to members, so you do have to join but it isn't as though you have to wait for "approval" of membership like some comms). You'll get pointed in the right direction and I bet you several other people will chime in with related suggestions. When I wandered in over four years ago to these comms, it was actually kinda quiet in the fandom then, too (FNFF was just getting started but TDS_RPS was standard). I think it's pretty normal for a fandom, particularly a fandom with as many branches ("real" news, other shows the people have appeared in) and that's a continuing source of inspiration (constantly generating new material versus a show that's been cancelled), to have ( ... )
