General Discussion

There needs to be some place to discuss non-fic related items. Discuss the movie, the amazing cast, the characters, Tom Hardy's expressive eyes. If there is even the smallest relation to The Dark Knight Rises, then go ahead, bring it up, talk about it and have fun.

For a fandom that's canon just finished/started, it's already a fandom with creativity spilling forth. So I want to know what are people's favorite pieces so far. I want to know what you favorite fic so far is and what piece of art amazed you.

So far, there hasn't been that many and I've only read a couple so far, but as of right now these are my favorites:

This Untitled and Awesome Dystopian Bane/John fic by an anon. It's non-con let me warn you, and it's a minifill but I like the fact she was able to fit so much emotion into so short a space.

Untitled Miranda/Bane fic by meowlina. I'm usually more into slash and the cruelty of Miranda really hurt me but it's an amazing fic and I envy her ability to display emotions so well.

and This JGL/Tom Hardy and Louis fic by an anon. I'm also not really into fluff but this so cute!

So far, we seem to be getting some pretty good writers here. But I'm really waiting for someone to write a Bane/Barsad fic since that's my OTP right now!

Haha, I know I'm waiting for some Bane/Barsad fic too. It looks like the love for that pairing is growing though from what I've seen discussed on twitter and tumblr. Crossing my fingers that fic happens.

Elegy, by kiyala was a perfect 'what happened in the cave with John Blake after the movie ended'.

Untitled, by maja-li Is the FIRST TDKR fic and is simply fisting, a Bane/John Blake fisting fic.

An old favorite is If You're Bad (You'll Die When You Die), by cathenian It was written back in May of last year, just after we learned that Joe was playing John Blake, when we knew virtually nothing. I was a cheerleader for this verse, back when it was being written and can surely say that it was my first Bane/Blake fic.

For the past few days, I've been rolling 'Barsaaad' off of my tongue at random points of the day and it just keeps getting sexier.

I hope a fic happens before I lose my mind. I'll be sure to check those out when I'm not looking at five hundred random movie trailers at the same time for no particular reason.

I am more glad than I should be to hear that I'm not the only one saying his name out loud, testing it. It is a damn sexy, rolls off your tongue beautifully kind of name. So far all we've got is this piece of art. I know that one of my friends is drawing a bunch of Bane/Barsad pieces too. I've got an outline for a story drawn up, but hell, so much to do before I can write it. Hopefully someone will come to tide us over.

Where's that from anyway? Is it Latin? English? I heard it's from A Tale of Two Cities(which I haven't read cuz as much I love reading and all genres it's rare that 'classic literature' catches my eye).

A plot is in my head, but it's only half-formed and I caaaaaaan't because urrrrrghhh and it's driving me insane because of my brain farting everywhere. And now I've just been viciously assaulted with Hardy gifs so my brain really doesn't know what to do with itself at the moment.

*breathes*

And now this gif has me seeing Barsad mourning Bane's death.(Even though I'm pretty sure Barsad died before him or at least at the same time.)

*looks at Word document*

Dammit.

I never could find any origin for the name, but yes, John Barsad is a character in A Tale of Two Cities, as well as Styver. I haven't read the book nyself either, but from what I've been told, the names and refrence to A Tale was very fitting. Classical Literature is difficult to get in to.

You are at the stage that fandomers generally call the 'can'ting' stage. Where you no longer know what to do with yourself. I understand. I just watched Tinker Tailoer Soldier Spy and all my Bane feeligs came back the minute Tom Hardy strutted on screen. He's the type of actor that actually makes you feel things!

*pets*

I actually like to think that Barsad survived the tank crashing, but I have to watch the movie again and keep and even closer eye on him, to see if how his tank crashed. I kept close tabs on him the first time round, but emotions were strong with thag viewing.

I'm going to be bad and say 'do it!' let your muse go wild!

*sighs* Dammit, I really need to get Netflix or some DVDs or something. There's so many movies that I must watch and yet I can't because FUCK.(Which is even worse because I'm planning on being a Film major. But maybe it's good to stay away from other influences.)

And I'm becoming a huge fan of Gary Oldman too. He steals every scene he's in. And did I ask you about Bronson yet, or was that someone else? Because that's like, one of my favorite movies ever right now. Why does it seem like all the good stuff comes from outside the States?

America--get your shit together please.(Oh Gawd, now I'm thinking about the gub'ment.)

Hurray maybe there's hope that---

But--but then--

There are so many brilliant movies! As someone who wants to be a film major, that's a tough decision, to watch all the movies or not to.

Gary Oldman is one of my favorite actors. The way he can take on a role is utterly beautiful and it's so easy to watch him. I have seen Bronson, more times than I can count. I was amazed watching that movie, because holy shit, Tom Hardy. It wasn't my first Tom Hardy movie (that goes to Stuart: A Life Backwards), but it sure was the one that made an impact!

I'm going to sit here and stare at that realization that he'll be alone in prison if he did survive. I'm going to sit here and dwell in the angst.

One of the things I'm scared of going into this major the fact so many art schools already have a set way of doing things and that no matter how much they say they're open to innovation and creativity there's little room for change. Like what defines 'classic literature' and 'great art'. There's so much great art and writing out there, but it's not appreciated as great or fantastic or put in the same league as the other stuff because it's against the norm or some other huffy duffy excuse. And when there is innovation, it has to be super-amazing or minimal. Which makes it hard for me, because sometimes it's the tiniest, slightest, things that make something huge.

Christian Bale is one of my favorite's too because of the way he can meld himself into whatever character he's playing so well. And recently, after watching a scene of La Vie En Rose with Marion Cotillard I was blown away by her performance.(And that's another movie I've told myself to watch ( ... )

I think my favorite so far is actually that one Bane/Scarecrow ficlet on the meme, false prophets in a fearful time (http://tdkr-kink.livejournal.com/1025.html?thread=144641#t144641). It's like delightful, frolicky evil in fic form

HAVE YOU READ THIS.

I'm currently freaking out over it. Inception/TDKR crossover, flawlessly plotted and psychologically devastating, I cannot DEAL with writing of this quality, the fandom as a collective whole is gonna have to step it down a notch.
