Re: Fly, fly away. Bane/John pt.7 darlinglileve August 16 2012, 12:34:56 UTC
Three days pass after John's confession. Gordon assembled his men and moved their entire operation to an abandoned meat hotel in the east side of Gotham. The hotel lobby was rather small, but it was spacious due to people ransacking the rooms. It was abandoned way before Bane's rule due to low profits for the owners. Few people were seen coming in and out of the place during the times before Bane's rule, so no one would question if a whole group of men were moving into the hotel.

John wasn't convinced that the hotel was the right choice for a place to hide, but then again, the Commissioner knew that it was a safe place to hide, even though he didn't know why. He got his answer when he led them to the basement. The room was occupied once by a gang who were overly suspicious of other trying to take their turf. So in order to keep their territory safe, they had placed several traps around and inside the compound. John's speculation turned into impression.

"This is where we will be staying for now on." Gordon states as he motions for a man with brown hair to place some materials, mostly maps, flashlights and stun guns, into the room. "We will be having two men guarding the area for a morning, afternoon and evening shift. No one is to enter this room without consent from either myself or Mr. Blake. Is that understood?" The few men that were with them nodded in agreement. Gordon turned to John and nodded as he began to discuss their plan on moving Fox and Tate to their location.

The day that they were to extract the two Wayne Corp employees was the last day of John's freedom.

He didn't know how it happened, it just did. He had a feeling that something terrible was going to happen today, but he chocked it up to nerves. John should've listened to his nerves instead of rationally thinking. Fox and Gordon were discussing something quietly to themselves in a room down stairs of the town hall when Miss Tate approached him with a smile that could warm any man's heart.

"Mr. Blake." Miranda softly says as she approached the young detective, "Would you mind escorting me upstairs? I have something to show you." John merely agreed with her request by following her upstairs into what a plush business room. John, being the gentleman that he was, opened the door for Miss Tate as she walked passed him with a quiet grace. John was motioned to sit on a couch that was located directly across from a green cushioned chair. Miranda placed herself in the chair and crossed her legs. She looked like a queen sitting on her throne, judging her subjects with hawk like precision. Though her eyes were soft, John knew there was something about Miss Tate that did not sit well with him.

"You wanted to show me something, Miss Tate?"

Miranda smiled and assessed John before speaking, "Yes." She softly replies, "I actually wanted to talk to you in a more private setting." John patiently waited for the woman to continue, "You see, it's come to my attention that you and your men have a change in plans."

"Ah, yes. We had to relocate."

"I see...Mr. Blake, is there something troubling you?"

"No, why?"

"Because you do not seem as cheerful and confident as you usually are."

John wanted to laugh at her comment, but wisely kept it in. Cheerful? He was opposite of that. "What gave you that impression?"

Her lips spread into a sad smile, "Because every time I see you, you bring such life into your comrades."

"I guess...?"

"It is not a guess. It is a fact." She states as she uncrosses her legs from one side to the other in order to keep them from falling asleep, "I can see such fire in you, Mr. Blake, that no one, not even Gordon could comprehend."

John slightly fidgets at the compliment, "Thank you, Miss Tate."

"Please, call me Miranda."

"Right...Mis--I mean, Miranda." He felt like an idiot when she chuckles.

"I can see why he views you in such high regards. I have told him that you were a wonderful choice."

This made John pause, "Choice? Did you talk to Gordon about me?"

"No."

"Then who else have you talked to about me?"

There was a reason why John knew something horrific was to happen today. It seems like he was right. Miss Tate, with the grace of a queen and eyes like a hawk, replies.

"Bane."

Thank you guys so so much for being so supportive of this fill! I honestly don't think of myself as a writer, I'm more of an artist. I'm just amazed how I have so many people liking my work. I believe if I have one person even commenting, it's worth it all. C:

-------

John did not react.

He did not speak, he did not rise from his seat and rush to the door. He merely looked Miranda in the eye as she spoke the name of the man that had constantly defiled his body and shamed him. Instead, John's entire body shuts down. He is frozen in his seat as a sudden epiphany occurs to him.

"You've been working with him the entire time, haven't you, Miss Tate?"

She smiles, of course, at John's correct deduction. There is a proud gleam in her eye that makes John want to vomit, "And you are the reason for the Batman's revival. Or should I say, Mr. Wayne's return to duty?"

"I don't know what you're talking about."

"Come now. It's very unbecoming to lie to a lady." She gently reprimands John. The young detective was smart in not to answer to the woman's jab. She sighs slowly and lazily smiles as she takes him in.

That goddamn smile...

"Why am I here Miss Tate...If that's even your name."

"I am merely asking for your presence. Unless you want to join your comrades downstairs. I highly doubt you would, though because as we have been speaking, your men have been carted off to Crane's courts."

This had the young detective reacting. He stands up abruptly and shouts in horror, "You bitch! What did you--"

The once warm aura that Miranda exuded immediately dispersed and a cold look of anger replaced her lazy smile, "Sit down, Mr. Blake. It would be rather unfortunate that I would have to rip your tongue out for your language."

There was no doubt that she would. Blake slowly sat down, still keeping eye contact with the woman as she smiles once more. "Who are you?"

"I have already told you--"

"No. You told me a cover up name. What's your real name?"

"You will know in time, my dear." Is the only answer he receives. She stands gracefully and walks, no, glides over to a window to their left. Miranda's focus shifts from her captive to whatever it is outside. "Mr. Blake, would you like to know why you were chosen?"

A small chuckle escapes from his lips, "You mean from being killed later rather than now?" His voice dripped with sarcasm.

"No, my little one. You were chosen for a new life. A life away from this wasteland of corruption. Yes...You were chosen by Bane, himself. My protector."

"Your...protector...?"

"Yes. He will be yours as well."

"No thanks. You can keep him. I'd rather take my date with Crane's courts." John rises and starts to make his way to the door, "Thanks for the little talk, but I'm pretty sure you're wasting your time--"

Blake started to open the door when a shadow fell over him, consuming him in darkness. His eyes widened in horror as the man they were speaking of was standing in his way of freedom. Miranda thought nothing of the small, shocked noise escaped the smaller man as he registers Bane's presence.

Time started to slow down. The world became small once more for John as he started into Bane's warm steel like eyes. In the darkness, Bane's eyes glowed menacingly down into John's frightened brown ones. It was as if John was thrown into a horror film and he was the girl that was staring up into the masked villain's face. Of course, John was not that girl and he was most certainly not about to greet death with open arms.

Instead, John greets a strange gas that is sprayed directly into his face from a canister in Bane's hand. The natural reaction was to cough violently and wave the offending gas away from his face, but it was to late. The chemicals started to react in his body. His body started to shut down and lock in itself. He didn't even have a chance as he fell to the floor, paralyzed.

"Seriously..." John weakly says from the floor, "A simple phone call would have sufficed. Maybe candy and flowers. Or dinner."

Bane chuckles as he leans down to John's level and assess him, "Still fighting even when you have clearly lost. Quite admirable, my little bird,"

"Don't call me that..."

"But it is true. You are my little bird." John desperately tried to shake his head away from Bane's looming hand. The large, calloused hand ran against his scalp gently, threading through his hair and petting him as if he were a frightened animal.

"I'm not a fucking animal."

"Yes, of course. But in these small, beautiful moments, you remind me of a bird. Desperately fighting to keep his wings from being clipped. To being caged." The giant of a man spoke reverently of John, "You are so desperate for your freedom, aren't you, little Robin?"

John's eyes widened in absolute horror, "How do you know my name?"

"I know everything about you. I know about your past, your present, and your future. You flied the skies of Gotham for so long, but it was all a lie. A giant fabrication to cover up the truth that Gotham is your cage. Your beloved city has tried to clip your wings a long time ago, but you fight to keep your wings whole."

Blake could hear foot steps coming towards the duo. Miranda kneels down so that she can move John's face to her, "Your spirit is so beautiful, Robin." Miranda gently praises, "You have so much anger, so much hope inside of you that is so unworthy of this city. You were meant for a higher purpose."

"No..."

"You have the fire within you. You were born for carrying upholding the legacy of Ra's al Ghul, along with your brothers of the League of Shadows." Miranda places a soft kiss to the immobile man's forehead, "When my heart has silenced and my body is ash, you will be the one who will be my protector's will."

As the darkness descended upon John once more, he was given an image of Miranda with tears clouding her beautiful eyes, "Thank you, my little bird. Thank you."

OMGEEEEEEE! This is...just...this just keeps getting better and better! I was so happy to get on here after a long, first week of uni to find there was an update to this!

My gawd, seriously, Miranda is a gorgeous yet terrifying figure. I'd sure hate to have a run-in with her DDD=

And Bane...omg, Bane...seriously why do I love this monster so? he's absolutely terrifying! And what did he spray in our poor Blake's face? :o

Blake...always a fighter to the end. But then again Miranda and Bane are both sadists...something tells me they prefer a captive who fights

Sooooo looking forward to more! :DDDDD

I really hope you're still continuing this!!! I love the attention you pay to the John/Jim relationship, even though it isn't sexual, because that seems to be forgotten among the people who write for this movie :). Please keep going!
