Ah, stress.

My job is trying to make me crazy.

Quick recap:
1. I work as a Director of Institutional Giving, meaning I'm the direct contact between public and private organizations and our little not-for-profit. Also, I'm not omniscient (yet).
2. Person Q schedules a meeting/lunch/whatever with another organization. We may or may not get money from them.
3. Person Q does not inform me of this.
4. Meeting/lunch/whatever goes off nicely. At this point, they may or may not deign to tell me.
5. My upper management belittles me for not coming up with this idea and for not taking charge of this situation, of which I knew nothing about.

Wait, what?

At first it was annoying. Now it's happening once a week. I've been berated several times for not "owning the process" or whatever the buzzword of the month is. I'm detracted for "not acting like a manager," despite the fact that I manage no staff. The irony (because with such a set-up, there must be irony) is that *every* time I hold people to task, take charge of a situation, or speak out at a site visit, I am ignored/overruled/told to shut up. In nearly a year, nobody has completed anything I've asked them to on time, and this includes executive-level management. I've no recourse here; everyone outranks me and thus feels they can easily ignore whatever annoying issues might be arising in my camp.

I am looking forward to the argument that's going to pop up when I meet with my boss today. Hell, we already went back and forth a few times last night...

If I seem terse today, it's cause I'm pretty damn pissed off. I'd like to avoid this devolving into senseless whinging or bleeding into my personal life, so it's being posted here. I seriously don't want to talk about it when I'm outside of work anymore.

New blog post going up tonight when I get home from work. Also, pictures of me moving my sister in to college are up. Good chance to go see my pride and joy and tell me how beautiful she is.

sound and fury, whinging, fiction, sister, work, blog
