Maths
i went to my first lecture as a maths student this morning! i cant promise that it will last all semester, but i am going to make an effort this semester. not just for the purpose of passing the year, but also because i think i could really start to enjoy studying maths!
now saying that in school would probably have me beaten up, but i feel comfortable (although slightly geeky) with it, especially as i know there are other enthusiastic people about.
one thing that is quite often a laughing matter for non-maths students is the concept of maths being beautiful, but i think im slowly beginning to understand it. for instance, there are many concepts that the human mind cannot comprehend, such as infinity. yet there are extremely simple definitions of these concepts within maths. proof by induction almost laughs in the face of infinity in its simpicity!
saying all that, i still am up for a lot of fun this semester! work isnt gonna consume me entirely!
