Italy is definitely dressed for a party! Having decided to wear something that reminded him of home, he had talked Ruka into a costume that corresponded with his. He definitely wanted it to be a nice night. There were so few times here where he could dress up like this.

[ooc: please ignore the wig and the cane *lol*]

Ruka blinked at decorations. She was wearing the black and white carnival dress to match Veneziano's costume. She'd never seen such a display before, even at her wedding. She was clinging onto her date's arm. Eyes full of awe and amazement.

"Veneziano...?" She sounded more shy than usual.

At least the decorations were rather cute rather anything scary. Even Italy couldn't be scared by children's craft spiders. He smiled over at her and gave her a hug. "Yes, Ruka?"

"Wha... What is all of this...?" She couldn't help feeling overwhelmed. She'd never seen such things before. The ghosts were a mystery to her, as were the little houses. Everything was very strange. "What is that?" She pointed to a ghost napkin.

"These are the decorations for the party," he said with a smile. "Those white things, they are ghosts. The real things are scary but those are cute. The little buildings are supposed to be the places where the ghosts live. Those are pumpkins. They are a kind of vegetables." He went on to describe almost everything in the room if she'd let him.

Continuing to cling to him, she listened closely, trying to take it all in. She'd never seen a pumpkin with a face before, and what exactly was a ghost and why did it live in such a tiny house? So many questions, but she figured Veneziano would explain them all to her in time.

Finally after mentioning everything he started back where he started. He did like to talk when he got started.

"And they carve faces in to the pumpkin and put a light inside to scare away spirits but a lot of people put cute face on them or carve art into them. Oh! I should do that. The ghosts are supposed spirits of people who have passed on. Actual ones are supposed to be larger. And they live in those houses..." And on he went again... She might have to interrupt him.

"But," interruption began, "why would people that pass on be still here?" She blinked back at him. "What is passed on by the way?"

"Oh, that means they aren't alive anymore. But those are just decorations. They are paper not actually ghosts. So they didn't actually pass on. As for real ghosts, I've never been able to talk to them. I don't know if I would it though. I don't know what they'd say." Rambling? Check.

"Aren't alive anymore...? Like Mother...?" She blinked down at the table. She hoped her mother didn't look like that now, not that she remembered her to begin with. She leaned closer to her date, looking kind of nervous.

Italy looked over at her. Uh oh. He put his arm around her and hugged her. "I'm sure your mother is okay. Not everyone becomes a ghost. Some just become spirits and look after us to make sure we are okay."

"Watches over us?" She looked up at him, cutely. "So... She's watching over Father right now?" Her voice had hope in it. His words had been reassuring. A small smile crept out.

Italy nodded. "That's what spirits do. They watch over the people they carried about in life. I'm sure your mother is watching over your father." He smiled.

"You think so?" She smiled up at him. Hugging him around his chest, she nestled his costume. "Thank you, Veneziano." She felt safe like that, despite the fact he wasn't as foreboding as Butler...

He hugged her even closer, smiling. "I do think so. You're welcome." He held her close for a moment then leaned down and kissed her on the forehead.

She blinked at the kiss. Her cheeks went pink. She tried to hide her face as a big smile lit up her face. She remember such a moment happening in the movie she'd watched with Minako at her overnight stay. She couldn't contain her soft giggle though.
