Who: Anew and Ribbons When: today Where: beach Rating: PG - that may change Warnings: Ribbons Summary: Ribbons catches up with Anew now that she's returned ( be afraid )
Ribbons was out earlier than usual. Walking nearby, he discovered her almost immediately. He stopped. She didn't appear to be aware of his presence just yet. That was good. He wasn't about to allow her a chance to run away again. He made his way towards Anew until he was directly behind her. If she didn't notice him by then, she would when he leaned down to grasp her shoulder.
Anew had been too lost in thought to hear Ribbons. She hadn't thought he would be up this early so she had let her guard down. She gasped when she felt someone grab her shoulder. Looking back, she saw the one person she had been hoping so much to avoid. "R-Ribbons..."
Ribbons stared down at her. He liked to fancy himself as always right, always in control. What he had learned, looking into Anew's mind, was a substantial blow to his ego. As it turned out, he'd been wrong about her all along. That was unacceptable.
With all the GN Particles that had been around, Anew couldn't be sure how much Ribbons had seen of what her thoughts. That was part of her worry. The way he was staring down at her was rather unnerving.
"I was beginning to wonder if you were coming back at all."
Though he wouldn't have missed her if she had disappeared, he wouldn't have been happy about it either. Ribbons made no indication of what he knew or even how he felt. Not yet. He was watching Anew, gauging her reaction. Through his grip on her shoulder he could feel whatever tension was there.
Anew was a bit tense since she wasn't comfortable being around him. "Why would I not come back?" Anew asked, attempting to figure out how much he actually knew.
She hadn't been expecting an obvious sign of what he was thinking so she'd have to figure it out herself. She couldn't pull away from hands on her shoulders. If she did, it would be all to obvious how she felt.
"The island has a tendency to send residents home at the most inopportune moments. I'm glad to see that was not the case."
He was still bitter about being robbed his chance to get back at Hallelujah. It didn't seem to matter to him that it could have easily escalated to the point of causing much collateral damage.
She was actually kind of glad that Ribbons didn't have the opportunity to try fighting with Hallelujah. That would have been bad and she had already removed a bullet once from his leg. She didn't particularly want to do it again.
"You've kept me waiting long enough. We have much to talk about."
Ribbons leaned in closer, still managing to remain calm despite the anger that threatened to overwhelm him. Did she really think he still lacked the information he went to so much trouble to obtain?
She really wanted to be anywhere but here as he leaned closer. She couldn't read him to figure out how much he knew. But she was starting think he knew more than he had prior to activating Seravee.
"Indeed we do, I'm afraid. You see, I have reason to believe that you have not been entirely honest with me. Would you care to explain?"
He was content to continue withholding what he knew from her, only implying that he knew something. Any further attempts at deception would not be appreciated.
If she wasn't already pale, Anew probably would have gone pale. So he knew... something. She wasn't sure what, but it was obvious that he knew something. She wasn't quite sure what to do for a moment, but after a moment she realized she didn't have much of a hope of salvaging this if he had actually seen something from her mind.
"Yes... I haven't been completely honest with you. I might be able to explain more fully if I knew what exactly you believed I was being dishonest with you."
Ribbons let out an irritated sigh as he withdrew, slowly circling around to face her from the front. He stood before her, glaring down at her. No more running away or delaying the inevitable for her.
"You have defied your purpose, betrayed your own kind, and violated my trust. Is that clear enough for you?"
Anew looked up at him as he walked around in front of her. She adjusted her position a bit to be able to move that much quicker if he should attack her. She wouldn't put it passed him.
When he said that, she suddenly felt very angry. She'd been holding back her anger at him since he had arrived. "'Betrayed your own kind'? You got me killed just because you wanted to prove that we were better than humans! And a human killed me! It was a pointless fight. Was it part of the purpose that I was supposed to die? If so then I did nothing to defy my purpose!"
And attack her, he did with a strong backhand to the face. Anew's arguments, however valid, would not be heard. She dared challenge him and she needed to be put back in her place. Ribbons was too angry to think about who else might be out and simply didn't care.

Tieria walked along the beach. He needed time to think things through. Not quite as tired anymore, he'd gone out to get some fresh air and be alone. He didn't count on coming across anyone else.
