Who: Dorothy and Seras
When: This evening
Where: Outside
Rating: G
Summary: Dorothy has her second vampiric encounter, which ends much happier than the first.

Seras sighed a little as she slipped out of her hut early in the evening, Harkonnen clutched in her hands. With what she'd been hearing, the young vampire wasn't too happy.

Dorothy stepped out of the store where she worked and locked up after herself. She was doing much better now, was regaining her usual confidence. She walked towards the cafe, still opting out of wandering along the beach as she normally would.

Thoughts turned inward and eyes downcast, she didn't even notice the other woman until she was nearly on top of her. She quickly stepped to the side.

Dorothy hadn't been paying much attention either, more interested in looking around than in front of her. She blinked when she noticed a fast motion, and looked down to see Seras. She also stopped and politely spoke. "I'm sorry, I must not have been paying as much attention as I normally do."

"I wasn't paying much attention either, I'm afraid," Seras admitted, holding Harkonnen closer. "No harm done though."

Dorothy nodded before taking a closer look at the woman. Were those..red eyes? "I..hope you don't mind..But what are you?"

Seras nearly cringed at the question. Before, she'd gotten a lot less nervous about telling people, but with Master biting people... She looked down again, answering quietly. "I'm a vampire, miss."

That was what Dorothy had been afraid the answer would be. She paled and took a few steps back. "You aren't planning on biting me too, are you?" She managed after a few breaths.

"No!" She bit her lip after her outburst. So this was one of those that he'd bitten. "I don't attack people. It's wrong."

Dorothy flinched at the outburst, taking an extra step away despite herself. "..Then how do you eat?"

Seras made a small gesture towards the woods. Even if Master had been the one to bite the woman, she still felt guilty. "The animals in the jungle."

Dorothy nodded slightly, that sounded better than what the other vampire she'd met did, or seemed to do. "Who are you?" She had a feeling she already knew that answer too.

'Who' was a much nicer question than 'what.' "My name's Seras Victoria."

Who could really fault Dorothy's lapse of manners? She'd just come across another pair of red eyes, where the last experience with the person with those eyes had been far less than pleasant. She nodded, the answer confirmed her thought again. "I'm Dorothy Catalonia."

"It's nice to meet you?" The uncertainty in the Draculina's voice was obvious. "I really should apologize to you for what Master did."

Dorothy's hands clasped eachother, trying to keep from shaking too much. Sure, Seras didn't seem nearly as bad as Alucard obviously was, but she knew better than many that appearances could easily be deceiving. She looked away before shaking her head a little. "..It wasn't your doing.."

"He's still my Master. I feel somewhat responsible." She kept her distance, still clutching her gun like a security blanket.

Dorothy was grateful that Seras was keeping her distance, though she'd seen how quickly Alucard could move. She looked back at the Draculina, shaking her head slightly again. "You shouldn't..You don't seem like him.."

"I try not to be," Seras said softly. "I've only been... what I am for so long. Even if he says I shouldn't, I try to hold onto my humanity."

"He's wrong," was Dorothy's immediate responce. "Humanity has its drawbacks, I know..but that's what makes life fun."

She smiled slightly. "I know."

Dorothy smiled tentatively back.

"I'll be sure to yell at him again next time I see him." She was probably one of the only people on the island who could get away with it. "Since Sir Hellsing isn't here to do it."

Dorothy looked at her in undisguised surprise. "Why?"

"He's not supposed to attack people," Seras said. "If we were home, he wouldn't be allowed to outside of missions."

Dorothy nodded slightly. "That's good to hear..What missions?"

"The Hellsing Agency hunts down vampires and other monsters that threaten England." She tapped the shield on her shirt. Even though she was still tempted to burn the skirt, she did sometimes wear the rest of her uniform. "Master has been bound to the family since its founding."

"That must be strange..Hunting other vampires.."

"Maybe a little, but the others just kill, often not even to eat."

Dorothy flinched again. "They deserve to die then."

Seras nodded. "That's what I tell myself every time."

Dorothy nodded slightly.

"Well, I guess I should let you go," she said, shifting her gun. "I was on my way to do some target practice."

"I suppose I will see you around then," Dorothy nodded.

"I'm mostly out in the evenings, but you'll be sure to see Momiji, the boy I'm looking after."

"I'm sure I will, especially if he comes to the video store." Dorothy had to wonder about this Momiji, and decided to keep an eye out for him.

"He's the sweetest thing, so you won't have any troubles with him if he does." Seras smiled. She really did care for him.

Dorothy smiled slightly, "that's very good to hear." Meaning both that Seras seemed to honestly care about the boy, and that he'd not give her any trouble.

"I'll see you around the village then, Miss Catalonia."

Dorothy nodded. "Until then, Miss Victoria." She started walking again, continuing onto her original destination.

Seras did the same, a good bit happier than she'd been leaving.

seras, dorothy
