Meiran grabbed her husband's foot and yanked him off the bed. She stood over him, very, very unhappy. It was obvious in the way she was standing.

Waking up abruptly, he reflexively reaching for his weapon only to remember he'd moved it out of reach while getting used to sleeping with another person. Looking up at her, he scowled. "What was that for?!"

"You idiot!" She snarled in Chinese, which obviously meant she was more than a little upset with her husband.

Wufei glared, climbing to his feet.

"What the hell where you thinking?" Meiran asked poking his chest with each word, "Telling your friends that you were going to stay behind!"

"I screened that entry from you for a reason," he growled in the same language. "Because I didn't want this reaction."

"You should have known I was bound to find out!"

"Who told you?"

"None of your business."

"Is your issue that I chose to remain or that I didn't tell you?" Wufei asked, jaw firm.

"That you're choosing to stay! Wufei, don't hold yourself back for me!"

"It's my choice where I go or don't go, Nataku."

She sat down on the bed, burying her face in her hands.

Wufei sighed, sitting next to her.

"Wufei... Those are your friends, your family."

"And you are my wife."

"But, I'm not going to be here forever..."

He pulled her hands down, looking at her.

Meiran raised her head and looked at Wufei.

"We don't know how long you're going to be here, and I don't plan to waste a day worrying about the if and when you're taken from me again."

"Wufei..."

He looked at her softly, cupping her cheek.

"I want you to be happy."

"I am."

"I'm glad my dear."

"You rarely call me that except when you're being sarcastic, Nataku," Wufei said, smiling.

She frowned and then moved, pinning him to the bed.

He struggled, having the disadvantage of position. "Nataku!"

"Yes?"

"What are you doing?"

She slowly grinned.

Wufei didn't trust that grin one bit.

Meiran moved and sat back on his hips.

He propped himself up on his elbows, raising an eyebrow at her.

She smiled.

"Nataku?"

"Yes?"

"You haven't answered me."

"I'm having fun."

"You're an odd one."

"I'm having fun with my husband."

Wufei smiled. "Are you now?"

"Yes."

He laughed a little, pushing hair from his face.

She then leaned in, kissing him.

Leaning up, he returned the kiss.

Meiran pulled back, grinning.

Wufei settled back down, a small smirk on his lips.

"You look like the cat that ate the canary."

"Didn't think you were much of a bird."

She flicked his nose. "Keep that up and I'll start sleeping in my own hut."

He almost pouted, almost. With just his wife present, Wufei was much more relaxed than he usually behave. "That would be a pity."

"Why?" she asked with a wide grin, "Would you miss me?"

"Of course I would," he said. "Even the rude awakenings."

Meiran preened.

Wufei snorted, reaching up to tug on her braid.

She squeaked and fell down next to Wufei. The dark haired woman cuddled against him, nuzzling his neck.

He hummed a little in contentment, wrapping an arm around her.

That got her to smile.

"You do realize that you've probably upset some of our hutmates," he said softly.

"They can bite me."

Wufei growled a little. "No, they can't."

"I made a new friend."

"Oh?"

"Yep."

"May I ask who?"

"Mariemeia Khushrenada."

He snorted, shaking his head. "It'd figure you'd meet her soon."

"She's a nice kid."

"It's good that she's being allowed to be one now."

Meiran sat up and then whacked Wufei.

Wufei stared at her.

"Be nice."

"I was!"

"Hmph."

"Miss Khushrenada and I have made our peace already. That's all there is to it."

"Hn."

Tugging her back down next to him, twined the end of her braid around his fingers. "It's actually rather fitting that the two of you become friends."

She leaned in, nuzzling his shoulder. "Glad you think so."

Wufei smiled at her. "Who else have you met?"

"Your friends."

"That's an oddly large group of people these days, Nataku. You'll have to be more specific."

"Use your imagination."

"It pulls up rather frightening images when you're involved."

"Good."

He eyed her. "You live to make me paronoid, don't you?"

"Mhmm."

"Figures."

"I do love you."

"I know, and I do as well," he said, rolling onto his side to face her fully.

"I know you do... But can't you say it?"

Smiling softly, he pushed some hair away from her face. "I love you, Chang Meiran, Nataku."

She smiled widely at that. Meiran leaned into the touch. It had been so long since she heard him say that.

Longer for him, as he'd lived three years after she'd finally left him.

"Oh Wufei..."

"Yes?"

"Nothing."

"With you, it's rarely nothing."

"Can't it be this one time?"

"Alright, just this once."

She smiled at that.

"But don't expect too many exceptions," Wufei said with mock sternness.

Meiran laughed at that. "It's okay."

He smiled. Now that she'd calmed down, he was tempted to go back to sleep, but doubted his training would allow it now that he was awake.

"Why don't we go back to sleep for a bit?" She asked.

"Not sure if I'll be able."

"Just try?"

Nodding, he settled his head on half the pillow.

She curled up so her head was on his chest.

Switching off the lamp again, he pulled the blanket over them and closed his eyes. Yes, all was right.

Meiran closed her eyes, quite content against her husband.

wufei, meiran
