Who: Treize, Zechs
When: The day after Zechs spars with Alberich
Where: Gym
Rating: G
Warnings: None
Notes: None
Summary: Zechs, after learning the hardway from Alberich that he's been distracted by Noin's appearance, runs across Treize in the gym. They practice some fencing.

Treize went through a series of warmup exercises, stretching and doing several rounds of Calisthenics to get himself ready. Then, he picked up his fencing foil, preparing to go through several moves. His jacket and mask lay nearby, in case someone came in and was willing to spar.

Upon entering the gym, Zechs didn't notice his old friend right away. He sighed a bit. He hated it when he got to thinking about Noin too much and how he left her. He put a hand to the bandage that adorned his left cheek. He'd gotten careless...

"Zechs?" Treize asked.

He looked up. "Oh, Treize. I was distracted."

"I see that," he said. "Something bothering you?"

"I've been thinking too much."

"Care to talk about it?" He looked Zechs over, pointedly looking at the bandage.

"Noin..." he said quietly.

Treize nodded. He walked over to his jacket and mask. "Care to spar a bit? It may clear your mind."

"I've tried that Treize. All I got was a new scar."

"From who?"

"Alberich, the Weaponsmaster."

Treize chuckled. "Well, fencing foils are quite different from real swords," he said. "Unless you're like Yuy or my cousin."

He chuckled a bit. "Then yes Treize, I would be honored to spar with you."

He nodded and picked up his things.

Zechs tied his long hair back and retrieved a jacket and mask. He had his own foil with him, since he found the motions of fencing to be relaxing.

Treize smiled as he put on his own mask and jacket.

He saluted to Treize once he had donned the gear.

Treize returned the salue, assuming his stance.

He moved into a familar stance, his icy eyes narrowed in determination. How long had it been since he went against Treize in a bought?

"Ready... Go." Treize moved quickly, taking aim for the other pilot's left shoulder.

Quickly moving backwards, he raised his foil in a defense, knocking Treize's to the side.

Treize pulled back.

He began to press forward, moving to attack at Treize's side.

Treize parried, having pulled back with enough time. He backed off somewhat and then went in for another attack.

Zechs moved to the side, the foil grazing his side.

"Point?" Treize asked stepping back.

He removed his mask. "Always hated these things, can't breathe well and yes, it is a point to you."

Treize removed his as well. "Of course, the mask is to prevent things like that bandage of yours." He smiled knowingly.

"Unless you develop super human strength, I don't think you can do this to me." He said motioning to the bandage with his foil.

"No?"

Zechs arched an eyebrow. "Is that a challenge?"

"Perhaps it is."

"Well... I accept then."

Treize smiled a bit more and nodded. "Very well." He moved back into his stance, no mask. "Are you going to put your mask back on?"

"No. I don't think we shall need them." He replied dropping his mask. He never backed down from a challenge, especially one from Treize. With a small smirk, he moved into his stance.

"Let's see if you still have it, then... Lightening Count." And Treize attacked.

He didn't reply as Treize attacked. He quickly brough his foil up, blocking the attack. He pressed forward a bit, applying his strength into it.

Treize parried and stepped back again, his face very serious.

He recognized that look on Treize's face. He'd seen it many a time before. He moved forward, attacking, moving rather quickly.

Parrying again, Treize made another thrust towards Zechs.

Blocking the attack, he knocked the foil to one side. He then brought his up in a U shapped arch and thrust towards Treize's shoulder.

Treize moved, but not quite quick enough. He smiled slyly.

Zechs wasn't about to get over confident, he knew the older man too well, knew his plans.

"Tie match," he said. He moved to start the tiebreaker.

He moved backwards, eyes never leaving Treize's form, or his foil.

Settling once more, he nodded. "Ready... start."

Before Treize could attack, he moved in, thrusting his foil.

Treize jumped back, parrying across with his own foil to knock the other away. Then, he lunged forward with a thrust of his own.

Zechs quickly side stepped, turning around, his loose ponytail moving with him.

Treize spun quickly the other way to bring his sword arm to bear on Zechs faster.

He raised his foil in a block and then moved Treize's away. The closer they got to the completion of the duel, the fiercer their fights got. He danced backwards, and then forwards again. He lunged, thrusting at Treize's midsection.

Treize gracefully moved out of the way and tapped the other foil, almost toying with him. He made a move towards Zechs' right shoulder.

Zechs blocked the thrust and moved backwards. A smirk formed across his lips. This was getting interesting.

Treize stepped back as well, taking an assessment of the situation mentally.

"Loosing your touch?" He taunted playfully.

Treize just smiled and then quickly made another attack.

He blocked the attack, watching the foils slid across each other. His eyes flickered back to Treize and he knocked the blade out of the way, going in for an attack.

Treize mind was calculating. And, he was most certainly not an old man. He moved with his blade's momentum and brought it around for another attack.

He knew how calculating Treize's mind was. He'd grown up with the former Wold Soverign. He blocked the attack. He needed to end the bought and fast.

Treize moved to make another attack, this time going right for the other pilot's midsection.

He was quick, but not quick enough to block the attack from Treize.

Treize smiled.

"After all these years, I still cannot defeat you." Zechs said as he saluted to Treize.

Treize saluted Zechs in return. "Perhaps someday. It is said that the student inevitably bests the master." He chuckled. He'd been one of the instructors at Lake Victoria when Zechs and Noin were cadets there.

"One day Treize. One day, and it's a day that I look forward to." He said with a large grin.

Treize chuckled. "We'll just see about that," he said, tossing the foil ever so slightly to change it's angle in his hand so he could carry it point down. He placed it next to his mask and removed his jacket. "Was your hut damaged at all by the storm?" he asked.

He checked his foil and returned it to its proper shape and set it down. He removed the jacket, glad to be free of the confinment. "Minor damage. Nothing that I can't fix. Treize... Did you see one of the more recent announcements on the system?"

"Hm? No, I haven't."

With a sigh, he raked his hand through his hair, the long strands falling around his face. "She's here."

Treize looked at him for a moment and then nodded. "I see." He picked up his things. "Have you met up with her, yet?"

"She arrived during the storm. I went to get her." He shook his head. "She promised me a year."

"Was she harmed at all?"

"A few cuts and scrapes. There was an argument that followed."

"I would imagine so," Treize said.

Zechs shook his head and sat in a chair that had been left on the sidelines. He stared up at the ceiling.

"I had a feeling... she can be quite stubborn."

"I know... That's what our argument was about."

Treize chuckled. "I'm sure she'll be fine."

Zechs did his version of pouting at that.

Treize blinked.

"She's too stubborn.'

"Most good women are."

"And I'm equally as stubborn*

"You are." Treize smiled abit.

"But I'm not as stubborn as Lucrezia! She should have listened to me!"

"Would you have listened to her?" Treize countered.

"Maybe."

"Why do I think otherwise?" Treize said with a chuckle.

"If it was a direct order, I'd listen."

"And was it? From Wind to... what's her codename?"

"No. It wasn't an order. It was a request." Zechs said softly. "I promised a year and she said it was alright!"

"Feelings about those things can change," Treize said.

Zechs nodded and stood up. "That's what she said. She couldn't wait another five months to see if I came home or not."

"It is a long time."

He looked at Treize. "I couldn't wait either."

Treize smiled. "I know." He'd seen Zechs working hard to find a way home again.

He looked down, his long hair falling around him.

Treize put his hand on his friend's shoulder. "You're together now. Enjoy it."

"I shall. I only wish you could have the same happiness I do."

Treize gave Zechs a sad smile. "It's not meant to be."

He put his hand over Treize's. "I know that, but a friend can hope for the happiness of his friend, right?"

"If you insist." Treize picked up his things.

He chuckled a bit and gathered his things.

"Take care," he said. "I'm sure Noin will want to spend a lot of catch up time with you."

"Take care yourself Treize." He replied softly, "I'll send her to see you, since you were at Lake Victoria when we were."

Treize nodded. "I'd like that.'

"I'll speak to her later this evening then." Zechs replied with a smile. He then headed towards his hut.

Trieze smiled a bit and headed towards his own.
