Summary: Skilgannon runs into Midna and they talk.

Skilgannon had been exploring the village, getting the layout of the place. Leaving the immediate area of the village behind, he came across an open space that seemed perfect for exercising or sparing.

Midna was at the training grounds sitting on a rock. She was currently meditating to prepare for some practicing. The hood of her robe was pulled up as usual and she had her eyes closed as she concentrated. Faintly she could tell someone had just entered the training grounds, but for the moment she paid them no mind.

Cold blue eyes fell on the woman as the Damned paused at the edge of the grounds. He hesitated a moment, wondering if he should continue on in his explorations and away from her, or if she would mind him exercising.

Midna opened one eye to look at him. "I don't mind if you use this space as well. I do not need much space."

He blinked in mild surprise before nodding. "I thank you. I require little space as well." The Swords of Night and Day, in their scabbard, were allowed to slip from his back and settle against a tree trunk, his travel pack soon joined them. He calmly walked the area to place it firmly in his mind's eye as he let his mind shift to that place of 'elsewhere'. He knew he would not quite reach tranquility; he'd never been very good when there were other people around as he exercised. He dropped into that which Malanek had taught him, to stretch and relax his muscles.

Midna remained quiet as she focused on her mediation. Any questions that would be asked would come when they were both done with what they were doing.

The Damned almost missed the abbey where he had lived for three years, the balcony where he would do these same exercises always gave him a sense of freedom. Exhilaration. Danger. His breathing remained calm and controlled, just like his fluidic motions. He let his mind drift, the woman did not seem inclined to bother him, and seemed unbothered by him. His routine was almost over as his balance allowed him to seemingly dance away the tension that always crept up on him.

Midna finally finished with her meditation, opening her eyes to watch the new guy. Very interesting, she thought to herself. She remained perfectly still besides that she had opened her eyes.

Skilgannon felt eyes on him and let his body slip into the last part of his routine, designed to keep loose and relaxed. He knew he would be unable to achieve much more than he already had. Finally standing still and silent, more relaxed than he had been before, he turned back to where he'd left his swords, cursed as they were.

"How long have you been here?" Midna asked, wondering since she hadn't seen him around.

"Not yet a fortnight."

Midna nodded. Not very long then.

Skilgannon sat down, turning to rest his back against the tree next to his swords and pack. "What of you?"

"That's a good question," she remarked. "I think according to this time...I've been here almost a year."

He looked at her curiously. "'According to this time'?"

"The time of my world is different from the time of this world, but it's hard to tell how much of a difference."

The Damned nodded. "I understand."

Midna nodded. "This world is so different from my own."

"How do you mean?" Curious, the former priest had only known his own world, and the island he found himself on was not much different in appearance.

"My world is covered by perpetual twilight," Midna remarked. "There is no day, night, or sunrise. Just twilight."

Skilgannon frowned. "I can see your meaning." What he could not quite imagine was how anyone could survive that for very long.

Midna nodded. "It isn't that bad. It's rather nice, but it is rather different."

The Damned nodded thoughtfully. "As that was what you are used to, I can believe that with ease. I would miss the sun, myself."

Midna nodded. "I do miss the twilight though it comes once a day. I had never seen the sun until I went to Hyrule."

He raised a questioning brow. "How many worlds have you visited?"

"Three if you count the one I lived in."

Skilgannon smiled suddenly, as he recognized he might be seen as acting rudely. "Please forgive my inquisitiveness. I know very little of travel with magic."

"It's okay. I didn't have much choice but to go to Hyrule. I don't actively try to go to different places. If there is a portal, I can go."

He nodded. "I do not suppose you know how many worlds are represented upon this island, do you?"

Midna smirked slightly. "Quite a few and then there are different dimensions of the same world with some changes. A place called Earth seems to be the most popular."

Now that was a surprise. Perhaps the different dimensions, as this woman called them, were what the priestess Ustarte spoke of. Different pathways of the same place. "My world has no single name, we merely go by the lands we cross or are brought up within."

"Interesting.... Of course Hyrule was only the name of one kingdom, not the whole world."

Skilgannon smiled. "Is there someone here who is from there?"

She nodded. "Link. He is a swordsman from Hyrule. They call him the Hero of Time."

The Damned nodded, making note of the name so he would search the man out. Perhaps he would be a good beginning, or continuation, of meeting others. "Are there many other swordsmen here?"

"There is another named Alberich and another who is an assassin. Those are the ones I know."

He smiled. "I thank you."

"You're welcome," she replied.

Skilgannon bowed politely. "It was nice speaking with you madam."

"Please, I go by Midna," she told him. "And it was good speaking with you."

He smiled. "And I am Skilgannon. Fare you well, Midna." He turned and left the training grounds.

Midna watched him go then resumed her practicing.
