Marie headed over to her father's hut, knocking on the door and waiting patiently for someone to answer.

Treize stood from grading some of his students' recent papers to open the door. He smiled at seeing the young redhead standing there. "Hello, Mariemeia." He stood aside to let her come in.

Marie smiled slightly at her father as she came in, obviously still worried. "Quatre came and told me what happened with Duo."

"I heard about that," Treize said. "Is Duo alright?" He motioned for her to sit.

Marie sat down, "I think so...Quatre said he had gone to the first aid station."

"And Heero?"

"I don't know."

Treize nodded. "It's a frightening prospect," he said. "It was one thing when Mr Lamperouge was merely playing games with the idea of doing that, but now..."

Marie nodded, "It's worse now!"

He sat down next to her, placing a hand on her leg. "We'll be alright," he told her. "There are some weaknesses to his ability."

"Still...what he can do is really bad."

"I know... it is."

"Quatre thinks it might be better if I was to stay with you for a while."

"While Duo's injured?" he asked, then nodded. "That's probably a good idea."

Marie nodded, "I'm sure it will make Duo feel better knowing that someone's around to make sure nothing happens."

"I'm sure it will, too," he agreed. "Also, it may sound a bit odd," he continued, "but, one of the safest people you could probably be around right now would be Heero, once he recovers."

"Why?"

"Because Mr Lamperouge can only take control of someone once," Treize explained. "He can never use his power on Heero again."

Marie's eyes widened a little, "Never? You're sure?"

He nodded. "There's a book in the library that explains the abilities those who use Geass powers possess. I read it through after Mr Lamperouge tried to claim he had established a mental link he could use to take control of myself and Duo. First off, he cannot establish a standing link of that sort, but he also must make eye contact with his target. And, once he takes control of them, he cannot do it a second time."

Marie listened carefully, "So...a way to avoid being controlled by him is to not make eye contact?"

"Yes. However, when he has the patch covering his left eye, you have nothing to worry about. He must expose that eye for it work."

"Okay!"

Treize smiled at her. "So, you have no need to worry about him controlling Heero again, okay?"

Marie nodded, "All right."

He put his arm around her and pulled her into a hug.

Marie leaned into the hug, feeling a little better with her father's arms around her.

"I'm sure Duo's going to be fine," he told her.

"I know. Getting shot hurts, but Quatre says he's going to be all right."

"Have you seen him, yet?"

"Not yet, but I will be seeing him soon."

Treize nodded. "I'm sure he'd like that."

Marie smiled, "I know."

He chuckled. "He's probably bored."

Marie giggled, "Probably. I think he'd also be trying to keep from scratching at the stitches."

"That could be as well," he agreed. "It's not comfortable."

"It isn't fun."

He shook his head. "Certainly not... but things could have been much worse if Heero wasn't as strong minded as he is."

Marie nodded a little.

"I don't know the details, but Duo came out of it rather well considering."

"He did..."

"I am curious how Heero fared, though," he admitted. "If only because it would be good to know how he managed to fight some of the control and what the aftereffects of such an experience are."

"You should probably talk to him, then."

Treize nodded. "I think I might," he said. "I'll wait, however. I'd rather not approach him about it while he's still recovering."

Marie nodded.

"Are you alright?" he then asked.

"I'm fine...scared of what might happen."

He nodded, still with his arm around her.

Marie kept leaning against her father, "It's worse than what Grandfather did."

"It's certainly more direct," he said, agreeing with her.

"And it's more forceful."

"Yes... very much so." He gently stroked her hair.

Marie nodded, taking a little comfort from Treize.

"It's alright, though... we'll do our best to make sure you don't have to deal with it."

"Okay!"

He smiled at her, squeezing her lightly in a hug. "And you're always welcome to stay with me," he told her. "Even when there isn't trouble." He chuckled.

Marie smiled, hugging Treize. "Thank you!"

"You're very welcome."

"I'll bring my things over, then!"

"Do you need any help?"

Marie shook her head, "I should be fine. I'm not going to be bringing very much over."

Treize nodded. "Alright." He let her up so she could go.

Marie let go of her father, smiling a little. "I'll be back with my things soon!"

"Alright." He smiled at her.

Marie headed out of the hut, going back to her hut to get her things.

Treize stood and went to get the spare bed set up for her.
