Summary: Midna and Neptune go to figure out what is wrong with Trowa.

Neptune walked calmly into work, Hotaru in her arms. She wasn't expecting to see Midna already there since Neptune's shift was the first one. But there was Midna standing by the counter when she arrived "Good morning, Midna," Neptune said. "I don't mean to sound rude, but what are you doing here at this hour?"

"I'm worried about Trowa," Midna remarked. "He hasn't shown up for work. That isn't like him at least not without letting someone know."

"Oh," Neptune said, shifting Hotaru in her arms, the little girl still asleep. "I don't know..."

"I think we should go talk to him."

"I don't really know him," Neptune pointed out. "You know him better. I don't think I'd be able to."

"We both work with him," Midna told her. "We should both go. Besides, we should both know what is preventing him from coming to work."

Neptune nodded. "I guess we should, but then no one would be here to watch the store."

"If they really need something, they will come back," Midna remarked, heading for the door. "I know Trowa. Something is not right."

Neptune nodded, giving in and following Midna out the door, Hotaru beginning to stir in her arms.

Midna lead the way to Trowa's hut. Once there, she stopped and knocked on the door.

Trowa looked up at the knock on the door. He didn't want to answer it. He wanted them to go away. He lay back down, burying himself in the covers of his bed, whimpering. "Quatre...Quatre..."

Not getting a response, Midna tried the doorknob. When that failed, she did the one thing she could think of: she teleported herself through the door. Milo immediately ran over to greet her. She turned and opened the door, allowed Neptune in.

Neptune walked inside, Hotaru now fully awake in her arms. She immediately spotted the wolf near Midna and took a nervous step back, worried more for Hotaru than she was for herself. She held Hotaru close to her even as Hotaru reached out toward the wolf, giggling happily.

"Do not worry about him," Midna remarked. "He has been trained by Trowa. He won't harm her."

Neptune nodded, still a little unsure.

"It seems that he is still here," Midna remarked, noticing the full water bowls in the kitchen and the bowls still partially filled with food. "If he wasn't, there wouldn't be any of that still in there."

Neptune nodded. "So where is he?"

Midna headed down the hall toward the bedrooms. She knocked on the door that she instictively knew was Trowa's.

Trowa, who somehow hadn't heard them talking inside his hut, buried his head in the pillow. "Go away," he ground out.

Midna, however, didn't accept that. After finding the door locked again, she teleported through the door and opened it for Neptune.

Neptune stepped inside, almost being pushed out of the way by the wolf, who raced forward and jumped up on the bed beside his master.

Trowa turned his head to glare at Midna. "I told you to go away. How did you even get in here? Leave."

"Trowa something is wrong," Midna remarked. "You need to talk to someone."

Trowa shook his head. "I don't want to."

"Trowa, please," Neptune pleaded, going over and sitting down on the end of the bed, setting Hotaru down on the bed. "Something has to be wrong. You haven't been coming to work. Please something must be wrong."

Trowa turned his head to stare at the photo on the nightstand. Him and Quatre. A few tears started down his cheeks. "Talking won't help," he whispered. "It's all over. I've lost him forever..."

"Trowa?" Midna asked, walking over.

Hotaru, during this, had gone to over to see Milo, who was laying quietly on the bed. He looked up when she came over and wagged his tail a little. Gently, she pat him on the head. Milo only put his ears back and closed his eyes, mostly ignoring her, much to Neptune's relief.

"It's over," Trowa repeated weakly and broke down crying.

Neptune lay her hand on Trowa's shoulder as he cried. Midna had also moved closer to provide some comfort to the young man.

"Why is this happening?" Trowa whimpered after a few minutes, tears running down his face. "I don't know what's going on...I just want him back."

"Trowa, what happened?" Neptune pleaded.

"Did something happen with Quatre?" Midna asked, piecing together the fact that the blonde was not here comforting Trowa himself.

Trowa nodded fractically. "I don't even care if he doesn't apologize for what he said, having him back and having him be happy would make up for everything."

"What happened?" Midna asked.

Trowa shook his head, sitting up and burying his head in his hands.

"Trowa, please, we can't help if you don't tell us what happened," Neptune told him.

"You can't help," Trowa said firmly from inside his hands. "No one can help."

Midna crossed her arms. "We aren't leaving until you tell us what happened."

Neptune looked a little nervous at that declaration, but said nothing.

Maki hopped up onto the bed a moment later and walked over to see the little girl sitting on the bed with Milo. Happily, Hotaru pet Maki gently, giggling.

Trowa glanced back at Hotaru then sighed, lowering his head. "Quatre...he claimed that I didn't love him...claimed that I never had...I don't know why...He said I hated him and despised him even as my heart hurt because of what he was saying." Tears ran down his cheeks. "I can't eat, I can't sleep...the only thing I've been able to do is take care of them..." He gestured with one hand to the wolf and cat currently engaged in visiting with Hotaru. "I love him...I love him even now...He said I hated him! I want him back here, but no matter what I said to him, he still claimed I hated him!" With that, Trowa broke down crying again.

"Trowa," Midna said softly, putting her hand on his shoulder. "Everything will be alright."

"How do you know?!" Trowa snapped. "Have you ever had a lover tell you that you didn't love them?! Have you ever had someone push you away like that?! Do you know how that feels?! How much that hurts?!" Then he started crying again.

Neptune visibly startled at that. The words sunk into her heart and she started worrying about her own relationship. What if coming back here would ruin her and Uranus?

Midna noticed Neptune's reaction. Midna swept Hotaru in her arms and replaced the little girl in Neptune's arms, much to the disappointment of Milo and Maki. "You don't need to stay," Midna told her. "I can talk to him."

Neptune nodded, rising to her feet slowly. "I guess I'll be going," she said softly. She was torn between wanting to help Trowa and wanting to leave to escape the idea that she could end up in the same situation, bemoaning the loss of the person she held so dear to her.

Trowa didn't acknowledge she had said anything, but Midna nodded, parting from Trowa long enough to usher Neptune towards the door. "Go back home and take care of yourself," Midna told her. "I don't you ending up this way as well."

Neptune nodded, holding Hotaru close to her.

"Don't worry about the store today," Midna remarked. "I doubt anyone will even notice that we aren't there."

Neptune nodded, looking down at Hotaru, then headed out the door, going back to her hut.

Midna watched as Neptune left then shut the door and returned to Trowa's side.
