when i took my bike out for the first time this year it was hard, but kept getting easier. my problem is i apparently have no padding in my groin area. my bike seat already has a "gel seat" cover added to it, but after only about 45 mins of riding, my private area is sore. and no, adjusting or trying to sit more on my ass and less on my groin does not work. i really don't know what else to do about it except take a sweater to sit on while i ride. do any other girls encounter this problem with bikes?

I've actaully now got a huge bruise along the left side of my groin from front to back now and it kills. Where did you get the gel seat cover thingy, cause if you can get them separately I want one.

i got it when i got my bike 5 years ago... got the bike at SportSwap, probably got the gel seat there. i've seen them at a few places since then though, like Canadian Tire. probably any place that sells good mountain bikes. it was under $20, and it's better than nothing, but still not super comfy. it's kind of the shape of a beret and then you cinch a string and tuck it inside underneath the seat. you want it to be big enough to cover the whole seat, but tight enough to not slip off while you ride, and to deter people from stealing it.

Get a different seat. You can get these ones that are like riding on a giant pillow.

I had a seat once that bruised me groin pretty bad, switched to a larger softer one and never had that problem again.

Where do you find these little miracles?

Try one of those shops that only sells bicycles and bicycle acessories. I'm not sure where anything in Calgary is anymore, but they're every few blocks here. You can get tiny thin hard seats or almost round plush and padded seats, plus any variation in between.
