The McCain/Palin campaign is so shambolic at this point that I wonder if they're trying to do Palin a favor by saying that she's gone rogue. One McCain campaign adviser said recently that if they keep talking about the economy, they'll lose. What that says to me is that they know they're outclassed at the top and bottom of the ticket. Obama and Biden certainly can lose, but regardless of personal views, most people (and current polls bear me out here) agree that they are the better candidates. One can be eminently qualified for the job and still be beaten out by superior competitors. In other words, we probably wouldn't be having this discussion if it was McCain vs. Kerry.
So what's a from-a-helicopter-wolf-shootin' hockey-mom turned Alaskan governor (and VP candidate) to do? Why, run in 2012. Hell, Joe the Plumber is thinking of running for Congress, and she's got loads more executive experience than that guy, you betcha! The best thing the McCain folks can do for her is to say that she's gone off-message and they haven't been able to contain her. Hell, she's too much of a maverick EVEN FOR HER OWN CAMPAIGN! Just think of the cred that'll give her with those swing voters who know (and love) a nut when they see one. She'll be just be straight demagoguing it up all across this great nation of ours for the next four years...
...until she has to run against Obama again.
