So here is where we were in January when we discovered things weren't quite as they showed on the drawings...
The idea was not to put in cabinets that would be higher...
So we tried again, and again... Third time was a charm -- we got what we were expecting for a change.
So we called the contractor, only to find he had retired as he said he might. So the scramble is on to find someone else. Based on recommendations from some friends and co-workers of Barbara's we hired a new contractor.
The lower cabinets go in, no problem and we are ready to do the upper cabinets. Uh, Houston, we have a problem...
The soffit that has been a problem all along is so far out of level, there is no way we can make it work, so let the demolition begin...
Nope, no way we can shim it...
So out comes the soffit...
So yesterday we reached a landmark -- we finished the demolition and started the long road back
So while the spackle dries, we are starting on assembly of the island.
Hopefully the cabinets will start going up Monday or Tuesday...
