Random fact:
Brits have to buy TV licenses. Do you know why? It's because the government pays for many of their television programs. What does this mean? It means that they have 3-5 PBS-type networks running at a time!

Government subsidized programming means great shows for children (Sesame Street), unbiased news casts, and the coverage of local events, including music and art shows. I oughtta know; my dad directed a movie for PBS. It's called Midwestern Bands. Anderson Highland High School is featured, of course, as are many other local marching bands. Without PBS, no one would see high schoolers march. And that would be a travesty.
