Jesse was behind her. He had finished his work earlier in the class period and was also bored out of his mind. Noticing that she was spacing out he scribbled a note, "Got those razors for me?" A quick fold and he passed the note.
Smirking he put it at the back of her blouse feeling frisky at the moment. He waited for a response. He stretched his arms above his head and relaxed. He kept the laugh that was bubbling inside from coming out and let the smirk ride.
As soon as she felt something on the back of her neck, Santana slapped it and cringed. Paper. She took the note out, read it, then looked behind her. As soon as she saw Jesse's smug smirk, she crumpled up the paper and threw it at him.
In a low whisper, she said to him, "You'll face the blades if you don't behave. What you just did? Strike one."
He kept the smirk on, "At this point Santana I think you could use all the friends you could get," his voice just barely below a whisper. He raised an eyebrow and looked at her with his deep brown eyes. He ran a hand through his hair. "Unless of course you don't want friends."
He crossed his legs at his ankles and let out a yawn. "Or to be able to copy the math homework so you don't have to do it."
He had spent some time figuring out the way this girl worked. She may be different from Rachel but she wasn't hard to figure out.
She raised a penciled eyebrow at Jesse. He had just what she needed. Sure, she could argue with him that the few she talked with around the school were her 'friends,' but she really considered them 'annoying people she knew.' Her real friends, she thought, were back in 2011.
Smirking herself, she murmured to him, "I don't really do friends. I could make an exception though, especially to ones that'll let me have all the answers I need."
"Answers and perhaps I'll sit by you on test days so you can copy those answers too. Last thing you need is to flunk your senior year and everyone does friends. You just haven't found the right person to be your friend." He was implying that he was the right person for the job. He slid his homework towards her, "Maybe you should work on your arthmitic."
He let a grin slide across his face. He loved teasing her. Jesse couldn't do this with Rachel, she was too sensitive. Rachel would end up hurt and upset and probably crying. He might be able to fall in love with her sure but Santana was fun. Which was a hell a lot more interesting than Rachel was -- other than the second base on Saturday night.
She glanced down at the paper with a grin. That was exactly what she needed. She copied down his work as fast as she could. When she was finished, she slid the paper back to him.
"I'm left handed. Make sure you sit to my right. Makes it easier for me," she whispered. Her brown eyes looked at him and she winked. She was glad to be talking to someone that wasn't scared of her and was able to keep up with her. "Are you sure you want to make friends with someone like me? I'm usually the girl everyone warns you to avoid."
"Sure why not? You're pretty swell and pretty. Why wouldn't I want to talk to you?" He wasn't affected by the color of her skin. The only thing it made him want to do was protect her. "Plus I heard you signed up for GLEE club so we'll be dealing with each other on a pretty regular basis so we might as well be civil."
He winked at her and took his paper back. He sat up and leaned forward on his desk as the teacher left the room for a moment. They were getting looks, "There's something special about you Santana and I don't know what."
"You're in glee too?" she asked, shocked. Someone like him? Okay, she thought, maybe going to glee wouldn't be so bad. Maybe she wouldn't skip too many meetings.
As he leaned forward, she leaned back. She noticed some of the other students looking, but she didn't care. Her smirk grew as she turned to Jesse. The Latina let out a breathy whisper, "I guess the fun part is in finding out, isn't it, Jesse?"
He shivered at the breathy whisper internally. He wouldn't let her know that it had gotten to him...yet. He rested his hand on his chin and looked at her intently. "What's wrong with Glee club? It's fun and I like singing. I have since I was a kid."
"What's wrong with glee club?" Only tone-deaf losers joined it, it's usually run by a creeper, and it usually meant you'd end up with slushie in your face the next day. She kept the smirk on her face and replied with, "Oh, nothing, if you like that sort of thing. I'm new to the whole thing."
Tilting her head to him, the Latina pursed her lips. She tried to make it look like she was giving him a kiss. "Maybe we should meet sometime outside of class so you can get a chance to find out."
"Oh, I see. Well it'd be great if you tried out. We can always use fresh...meat in the club. I'd love to hear you sing."
A blush creeped into his face, Santana was being unusually forward, especially from what he was used to with Rachel. He had waited months for second base.
"I-I've got a girl at the moment but the offer is very tempting sweetheart." He only stumbled over his words for a moment before he regained his "cool" persona.
"One day I just may take you up on that offer." His eyes glittered as if they were sharing an inside joke. "After all I'm getting nothing in repayment for my kind services. Though perhaps your company at a later date would suffice."
"Fresh meat?" She blinked. She always thought of glee as something boring. He made it seem like there would be some sort of hazing ritual or like it was competitive. She never knew (or cared to find out) if there was more to the club.
She did, however, enjoy his reaction. She didn't think she could make anyone react like that, but she forgot that her straight forward ways weren't usual during the time. Raising an eyebrow, she asked, "Why's some girl stopping you? Is she around now? Is something going to happen? Is this for repayment?
"Whatever. I was giving you a chance to hang with me, but call me when you take your balls from her purse. I'm always free for a good time." She didn't care if he had a girlfriend. It never stopped her before.
"And that's something I care about. I've never cheated on a girl and I never will. My reputation may be one of a cad but I'm not. I'm loyal to who I'm with no matter what. I don't mind hanging out with you but it's not to be more than friends while I'm with Rachel and that's the way it is." He huffed slightly. He was getting diva-ish and didn't care. It was something he felt strongly about.
Everything was always subject to change and he shivered at the thought of how convincing Santana actually could be.
"And yes, fresh meat. We're always trying to get solo's and duets for the big competitions and I feel like there's something lacking in the club. More diversity."
"Rachel? Rachel Berry?" she asked, a mix of shock and disgust on her face. That girl that tried to be nice to her in the bathroom? He was going out with her? She couldn't believe it.
Rolling her eyes, she said, "Loyalty is over-rated. If you want to stick with animal sweaters and headbands, that's fine. I do like a challenge, so maybe we'll see how loyal you really are." She couldn't help but chuckle to herself.
The smirk returned to her lips. "Oh, and don't worry. I think the glee club will be very diverse soon. There'll be quite a bit of fresh meat.
He regained his confidence. "Rachel is sweet and loving and a good girl. You can try all you want." He raised his chin up in defiance. He liked this friendship with Santana. It was going to be interesting to say the least. Plenty of fighting and plenty of interesting moments.
"Good, I can't wait to see you there." At that exact moment the teacher walked into the room and began chewing them out for talking when they should be working on homework. Jesse rolled his eyes and with a "Whatever," he went back to his "work".
Ugh, teacher babble. She turned around in her seat and began doodling in her notebook. Finally, something interesting was going on. She didn't care what Rachel was like. She just knew that she had to really put on the charm to test his sort of 'loyalty.'
And the first way to start that would be with a song. Santana knew she had to step up her game now. She'd let Jesse know just what to expect.
Smirking he put it at the back of her blouse feeling frisky at the moment. He waited for a response. He stretched his arms above his head and relaxed. He kept the laugh that was bubbling inside from coming out and let the smirk ride.
