Who: Kurt and Blaine When: November 17, 1956 Where: Moondance Diner, for now What: Their first date...that no one can know is a date... Status/Rating: In-progress, PG Warnings: Awkwardness?
Kurt was shifted nervously in front of the diner as he waited for Blaine. He smiled when he saw the familiar car and then the familiar face. He felt his cheeks flush and had a rush of panic and thinking this was a very, very bad idea. He swallowed hard, pushing it down to greet his boyfriend.
"Good evening, Mr. Anderson... looking rather dapper tonight."
Blaine grinned and rolled his eyes teasingly at Kurt. "So formal tonight," he teased - this wasn't too flirtatious, it was friendly, that was all. "How are you?"
"I'm well, and you?" He inquired, pulling the door open to begin inside and find them a seat. He wanted so much to be able to sit with Blaine, hold his hand, flirt and just be happy like they were. Unfortunately that wasn't an option for them. He let out a soft sigh at the thought. It just wasn't fair. "Is here okay?" He inquired about the booth towards the back.
"Sure," Blaine agreed. It was a relatively-empty area of the diner, so they could speak a little more freely, which made him happy. He wanted to take Kurt's hand but couldn't, and that was frustrating...but it was better than nothing, he reasoned, and at least they were together.
Kurt could see the slight frustration pull at Blaine's forehead and he sighed, "Hey... be happy. We're out together, even if we're not out together. Right?" He offered a faint smile, wanting to just take his hand so badly.
"Mine too," Blaine whispered with a faint, slightly-nervous smile. "I've never really had a..." he lowered his voice further, barely more than mouthing the word "boyfriend" before finishing, "...before."
"I got that impression," Blaine allowed with a smile because Kurt was adorable sometimes just by being Kurt. "I guess we'll just have to figure it out together."
"I think we've been doing pretty well on that front already, don't you?" He grinned, running his fingers lightly over the edge of his menu since he couldn't touch his boyfriend.
Blaine smiled and had to physically fight the urge to reach out and take Kurt's hand, stilling his boyfriend's fingers with his own. He wanted to so badly, but he knew they couldn't. "Definitely."
"So what are you going to get to eat tonight? I'm thinking my usual but I'm not sure." He replied airily as he perused the menu even though he knew it by heart.
"Gladly," Blaine replied with a tender smile. "I-" He started to say he loved it when Kurt cooked, he loved their nights in the loft but he couldn't. "-might get a shake, too. Everything's smaller now than...where I come from, so it's nothing too filling."
"Good evening, Mr. Anderson... looking rather dapper tonight."
