Rachel: Rachel had been at her boring Home Economics class. The next day they were going to be starting the flour babies, oh the joy she was feeling. She had other things to worry about such as what songs to sing at sectionals and of course her father in the hospital. So much on her plate and she didn't want to be taking care of a sack of flour. When she was free for the day from that class, she went to her locker to retrieve her English Literature book and binder. She was ready to begin the discussion on the latest book, with a smile on her face she closed her locker and started walking down the halls. Then she stopped suddenly, she saw Jesse on her way to class. Stopping she put a strand of hair behind her ear as she approached him. "Hey Jesse, haven't seen you in a while. How are things?" He didn't look good but she didn't want to start off by saying something stupid.

Jesse: He looked up at her. He had been sitting on the ground wheezing for a few moments. It had stopped just as she approached and gave her a weak smile. "I've been better. I've only been out of the hospital since Thursday night." He ran a hand through his hair. "Mind helping a guy up?" He held his hands up for a moment to her; looking up hopefully. The months in the hospital had given him time to think over the situation with Rachel. They were better off as friends. Though he regretted his behavior to her, there was no taking it back and he would stand by them. Just try to move on from this point.

Rachel: Looking down she nodded her head as she took his hand and helped him up. "Why are you even in school now? You seem like you need to be back in the hospital, you sound terrible." She was kind of concerned but didn't really know how to handle this situation at all. She did see him in the hospital just never went in, she just stood in the hallway when she went down to the cafeteria to get something to drink or something to eat when she was hungry. Not wanting to even bring up anything she thought maybe they could just start off from scratch, "Do you need help with anything? Its what friends do now these days right? Help each other out when in need?" She looked at him.

Jesse: He smiled, "I think that'd be a good start to be honest. And I was in there with pneumonia. I'm going to be weak for a while but according to the doctor I need the outside air. I was also going stir crazy in that place." He got to his feet and smiled.

Rachel: "I think so too. I don't want to bring anything up just start off fresh as friends. I know that was only meant to be." She smiled at him. "I'm really sorry to hear that Jesse, if I would have known I would have came by to at least say hello. But I'm sure that you had lots of visitors. Now I'm only speaking as a friend here but do you think that you were ready to come back to school? I mean the doctor did say outside air, you should have stayed at home until you were really well enough." She then shook her head, "But I'm not going to start being all miss bossy pants to you. But its good to see you up and about." She gave a little giggle. "And I know what you mean about hospitals people can go crazy after a while. Not that I speak from experience of course."

Jesse: "No, I didn't. It happened so suddenly that no one knew. My father came once and my mother once a week. Other than that? No one. Santana figured it out right as I got discharged. I was too weak to telephone anyone to tell them what was going. I wanted to be back in school." He shrugged slightly, "I've never really been one for common sense anyway."

Rachel: "Well, then, I'm sorry about what happened and everything. Like I said earlier I would have came just to hang out. I actually started volunteering at the hospital, singing to some of the patients there" She wasn't going to bring up anything like her father to him. "I thought I saw you a couple of times but didn't put it together." She shrugged her shoulders. "I can see how that must have been boring for you. Miss GLEE that much huh?" She started to laugh, "And not really but hey I know that I would want to be around friends after being in the hospital so its understandable. So how is everything going with Santana?"

Jesse: He laughed too, "It's going alright. It's getting there. We'll have our ups and downs I'm sure. How about Finn?" He began walking with her down the hallway to class. It was nice to have someone by his side in case he fell again.

Rachel: This was great, they were actually getting along and she loved every minute of it. "That's great, you seem really happy Jesse and I'm really glad for you and everything." Sighing she nodded, "Its going great. Couldn't be happier, we're talking about the next chapter in our lives, which is kind of scary for me but at the same time kind of exciting." She remembered having an almost same conversation with Jesse but she didn't want to bring that up. "I know that everyone will glad to have you back in GLEE, especially now that Sectionals are coming up."

Jesse: "Or they'll hate me because the chance of their solo is gone," he cackled and turned the corner, his eyes glinting with their former glory for a moment. "I may end up going home though. Or at least into the nurse's office to lie down. I hate feeling so weak."

Rachel: "Oh I'm sure that won't happen. Besides I already have songs picked out for my solo." She put her hand on her chest and sighed. And then started laughing, "I think that we can really win though. I wrote this song for the group number and I hope that it gets picked up." She looked at him a bit concerned, "Do you want me to take you to the nurse or drive you home or anything?" She wanted to help him with anything that he needed, "If you want to go home, I can tell Santana for you after I drive you home?"

Jesse: "I'll just go to the nurse's office for right now I think." He wraped his arms around her waist, using her for support. "I want to try to make it to Glee today."

Rachel: Rachel looked at him. "Are you sure? I mean your health is the most important. But if you insist, I'll take you down there, cause you really should lie down." She felt his hands on her waist and didn't do anything he needed her help. "Alright, lets get you to the nurse. I don't have class for another 20 minutes or so, I can sit with you if you want me to. I can make up for not visiting you in the hospital." She smiled and laughed.

Jesse: He shook his head, "That's alright I'll probably go to sleep immediately. I appreciate the thought though. YOu can tell Santana where I am though. I'd appreciate that." He breathed a deep sigh, happy that he had the support.
Rachel: "Well, at least let me sit with you until you fall asleep. Its the least I can do. Besides sitting in English Lit. for 20 minutes before it actually starts, and people think that I'm some person who likes to go to class extremely early." She laughed, "I only do that for GLEE. Besides, who knows the nurse will do to ya before you fall asleep. You might get a shot in the butt or something." She started laughing. "And I will certainly let her know." She walked him into the nurses office and helped him to the bed. "Anything that I can get you? Some 7-Up? Ice perhaps?"

Jesse: He just shook his head no. He laid down on the bed and took the sheet the nurse's office provided and laid his head back against the pillow closing his eyes. "No, I'm okay Rachel really. Just tired is all. It's exhausting walking the halls and driving alone. I want this to end right now." He didn't even want to think if his singing voice was affected, he slowed his breathing to the point it was almost shallow. He was asleep but not quite there yet.

Rachel: She sat there beside him and felt so bad for him. For once, she wasn't thinking about what happened between them, all she could think about was her friend was in need. He needed a doctor but she wasn't going to bring that up again. "I can't imagine what you are going through Jesse. I bet if you took a few weeks to just get well, and not worry about school you would feel much better. It will get better, now just rest." She brought over a wet wash cloth and put it on his forehead. She actually liked helping him out and she would be here until she was no longer needed.

Jesse: "Rachel I've been out for almost three months." He shivered at the wet wash cloth. He wasn't running a fever. "I need the fresh air. There's no one at home during the day anymore anyway. I think my mom is cheating on my dad or something. Or going to rally's in Cleveland. Whatever."

Rachel: "But that doesn't mean that you should come back when your not fully recovered. Someone could have brought you your homework or something." She took the wash cloth off, "Sorry, and sorry that I keep saying that you should be on recovery at home. I'm just worried about you, I know that you need the fresh air but that's what walks are for you." She then sighed, "That's not right at all. Someone should be at your house to take care of you. But I'm sure that Santana will be over a lot to help out. If your parents can be there at least she can right?"

Jesse: "It's the only time she can be over. My Dad's a racist." His eyes fluttered closed again. He rolled over to her and let his hair fall into his face. "And she can't be there all day. She has school too."

Rachel: "Wow, that really sucks Jesse. I'm kind of glad that I never met your parents, I mean I'm Jewish. But that has to be terrible for Santana." She started to think but she wasn't going to push it any further. "I see your point there, but do you really think you can make yourself come to school everyday with you being like this?"
Jesse: "I'm going to have to. Even if I'm only doing half days it's better than doing nothing. I'll have a talk with the principal or something. The teachers know my situation." He grew silent again, almost to sleep.

Rachel: "At least if you need to rest or anything you have the nurses office." She was being a supportive friend to him and trying to make light of the situation. "So how are those beds by the way? In here? Finn's feet would probably be dangling from it." She laughed. "So how long did the doctor say that you'd be like this anyway?"

Jesse: "For about a month or so and there's a possibility the wheezing will affect my vocal chords." He crossed his legs under the sheet. "It's good for a nap. I wouldn't recommend it for anything else...well maybe sex."

Rachel: "Oh no, well, once you are in full bill of health I can work with you on your voice, it has to come back sooner or later." And then she laughed really hard, "I'm glad to say that you have your humor back Jesse. I think that would be too uncomfortable for me personally, not saying that you and I......" She blushed, "I meant that you must think it would be great for you and Santana.......and okay shutting up now." She had totally embarrassed herself by saying that.

Jesse: He laughed weakly, "Santana and I haven't done anything yet. Taking it slow with her. Other guys haven't treated her right...there's just something about her. Rachel can you hush now though? I need to sleep." His eyes fluttered for a moment, before drifting off.

Rachel: She knew that she needed to sometimes think before she said anything. "I'm really happy for you Jesse. You are a sweet guy and I know that you'll treat Santana right." She then zipped her lips. Looking at the clock she still had time to spare so she went and sat down by the wall and read a magazine until she needed to head to class. It passed the time.
