After Rachel was done with her classes, she went to her locker and retrieved her bag and put her books and homework into it. Closing it she was about to head to the auditorium to maybe just play a little here and there. But she didn't want her father to wake up and her not being there, so instead of practicing every day like she always did, she decided to skip it. No use in doing a solo GLEE rehearsal anyways. So she left school and headed for the hospital.
When she arrived she waved to the nurses that she saw everyday when she came to visit. She knew that her mom and her dad wouldn't be there because her mom was busy with the house and her dad was out selling cars. Walking in she leaned in and gave her father a kiss on the forehead. "Hey there daddy. Its me Rachel, just in case that you didn't know it was me. GLEE was canceled for the day so I thought that I might pop by for a visit. I know that you can hear me, so I thought maybe I could do a song for you. Maybe then you'll wake up smiling, maybe my voice can save you." She gave a laugh as tears started rolling down her eyes once more. "I just can't lose you, you mean so much to me and I want you to be able to see me grow up and get married and seeing your grandchildren, and of course coming to all of my Broadway musicals that I'll be in." She held his hand and closed her eyes, "This one is for you."
As she closed her eyes she began to sing.
"Today I stumbled from my bed
With thunder crashing in my head
My pillow still wet
From last night tears
And as I think of giving up
A voice inside my coffee-cup
Kept crying out
And ringing in my ears
Don't cry daddy
Daddy, please don't cry
Daddy, you've still got me and little Tommy
Together we'll find a brand new mommy
Daddy, daddy, please laugh again
Daddy ride us on your back again
Oh, daddy, please don't cry
Why are children always first
To feel the pain and hurt the worst
It's true, but somehow
It just don't seem right
'Cause ev'ry time I cry I know
It hurts my little children so
I wonder will it be the same tonight
Don't cry daddy
Daddy, please don't cry
Daddy, you've still got me and little Tommy
Together we'll find a brand new mommy
Daddy, daddy, please laugh again
Daddy ride us on your back again
Oh, daddy, please don't cry
Oh, daddy, please don't cry"
Never letting of her father's hand she gave it a squeeze as she now was crying again. Looking up she thought maybe he would wake up but there he was still laying in the bed unconscious. "Maybe next time, unless you are waiting for all three of us to show up all at once for you to finally wake up. I understand that." She then began to fix his bed and make him look presentable as she hummed some songs. "I love you, and I'm going to stay until they either kick me out or if mom and dad start getting worried or something, but they know that I'm with you so maybe I'll just stay here with you and go to school in the morning." She sat down in the chair and started to at least look at her homework.
