Blaine walked over to the park, one of the few things that he still recognized from the Lima he'd been to in 2011. This whole thing... there was no way it wasn't a dream, but it definitely seemed too real, too vivid for it to be anything but reality. Regardless, he wasn't anywhere near understanding what was going on here. Before he'd woken up in 1956, he'd been spending the last days of summer in Columbus with his parents before he went off to another year at Dalton Academy. Now he was stuck, fifty something years in the past, with no idea how to get back.

Great. Just great.

He headed over to where he thought he'd found a nice-looking tree last time he'd been here, not realizing for a few minutes that fifty years ago, that tree wouldn't have existed. Feeling extremely frustrated, he just walked to the first bench he found and sat down, his head in his hands.

As he walked along, Kurt spotted another boy, one he didn't recognize. Another new kid? Maybe he'd be different. He certainly seemed upset about something. After another moment of hesitation, Kurt started over to him. He looked the boy over a moment, curious, before he said anything.

"Are you okay?" Kurt inquired softly, sitting down gently on the other end of the bench. "You look upset."

Blaine looked up in surprise - the last thing he'd expected was for anyone to approach him. It felt like his life was a movie, sort of like that Pleasantville one that kind of creeped him out, the one that Tobey Maguire had been in.

"Yeah. Yeah, I'm fine," he answered curtly, not really knowing what to say. He looked at the guy who'd approaching, doing a double take now that he'd really seen him. Whoever he was, he was beautiful. Not that it mattered, though, because it was the 1950s and being gay was illegal. Wasn't it? He stopped that thought before it went anywhere, swallowing nervously.

Kurt's blue eyes were soft and concerned as he looked him over, "Are you sure?" He was trying to be understanding and not let the other boys bad attitude upset him. He was clearly upset, so Kurt would reign in his normally snappy manner. "You're new around here, right? I don't think we've met before. I'm Kurt Hummel." He reached out, offering the other boy his hand with a smile. "Lima's not so bad, no need for the long face."

Blaine took Kurt's hand and shook it, trying to look like he was the slightest bit... well, not lost and in the wrong decade? "I'm Blaine, Blaine Anderson. Nice to meet you," he said, letting go of Kurt's hand and sitting back against the bench. "It's not that I don't like Lima, I'm just new here and I feel very homesick right now."

"It's swell to meet you too." He smiled a little bit, hand lingering just a little before returning to his side. "Homesick for where? I mean... where are you from?" First he'd met Mercedes and now Blaine. Maybe this year wouldn't be so bad after all.

"Well, I used to live in Columbus, but I went to a private school," Blaine said, struggling to remember when Dalton had been founded. "Um, I don't know if you've heard of it, it's Dalton Academy in Westerville? But my parents decided to move here and they thought it might be better if I just started at McKinley."

"Well, I think it's nice to have you. You're not the only new kid though, I met a girl just yesterday." Kurt said, trying to make conversation. He smiled a little at the other boy, trying to cheer him up.

"Where's she from?" Blaine asked Kurt, blinking against the bright summer sun as he looked up at the taller boy. "You're the first person I've met so far, I don't think I'd know her, regardless."

"I don't know. Somewhere near here I think. She's colored, so she's new with the desegregation they're doing this year." He informed Blaine, hoping this new boy wasn't going to be like most of the boys at school and be against it. He'd hate to have to be upset with him already.

"They're desegregating the schools?" Blaine asked and then paused. 1956. Of course they were. "I mean, that's awesome! Great. Swell."

He frowned, realizing he was going to have a lot more trouble blending in.

Kurt blinked a little, looking Blaine over. Was he okay? "Of course they're desegregating. It's all anyone's been able to talk about recently. Maybe it wasn't like that where you're from..."

"No, no, it was," Blaine said quickly, trying to fix his slip up. He was going to have to be more careful if he didn't want to be found out. He couldn't really think of anything they would do to him but regardless... how many times did you get someone saying they woke up one day, fifty five years in the past? "Sorry, my bad. I just wasn't thinking."

Kurt raised a brow, "Your bad?" Well, that was a term he hadn't heard before. Regardless, he smiled a little. "It's all right. Sometimes it gets a little overwhelming with everything changing all around us."

Blaine nodded, mentally running through everything he remembered about 1956 from his history classes. Oh man, why didn't he pay attention more often? "Yeah, yeah, definitely. Overwhelming. Yeah." He cleared his throat, trying to think of something to say to interrupt the awkward silence. If there was anything he hated, it was awkward silences. "So what grade are you in?"

"I'll be a senior this year. You?" Kurt inquired. He'd have guessed Blaine was about his age, he looked like it. It'd be nice to know another boy in his classes. Kurt didn't always get along with the boys too well. Most of them didn't like him. Or maybe it was that they were afraid of him because he wasn't like anyone else. He was definitely his own person and always had been.
