Welcome to Lima, Ohio... 1956.

Poodle skirts, muscle cars, greasers and the original rock and roll. The Lima of 55 years ago is a far cry from what it looks like today. Some familiar landmarks remain, like McKinley High and Hummel Tire & Lube but now there's a diner down town and a drive-in movie theater. The kids all hang out there on the black and white checkerboard floor, drinking their milkshakes and dancing to the tunes on the jukebox or in the "passion pit" watching movies. Nights are spent up at Lovers Lane, making out in the backseats of the hot rods.
Times aren't as perfect as they seem though. Racism is widespread, despite the recent integration of the local high school. Black, white, yellow, red; they all share the same halls and classrooms but it isn't always civil. Being a homosexual is still punishable by law and could quite possibly get you run out of town or even killed. The parents don't like the negro-influenced rock and roll music but the counter-culture of teenagers can't be stopped.
There are no iPods, CDs or cell phones. Computers are only for science fiction double-features at the drive-in and television is in black and white. Records crackle and pop as they bring the kids their music and listening to the local radio station is a favorite pastime.
The times may be different but being a teenager never really changes that much. There are still hormones and parents and school to deal with and that will never change.
