After an AMAZING (and sorely needed) vacation the past 10 days, I'm back at work. It's been ok so far, still slow, but Chris (the other full-time records clerk) is out sick today, so I'm covering requests for all 3 floors instead of just my normal 2. So at least I have a little bit more to do than usual! Plus I have like 50 bajillion myspace surveys I can do if I get desperately bored ;)
Vacation was great...it was so nice to see everyone! We got to see a lot of family, family friends, and friends, including the Hutchings, the Schwartzes, Cara, Michelle, Pearl (who was visiting her aunt, who happens to live walking distance from my parents, hehe), Laura and Lianna, and Laura C. (who I hadn't seen in 10 years!). And we even got to go to one museum (the Newseum, which is freaking amazing!), and watch a few movies at home (including Because I Said So - my parents get the movie channels, so there's always good movies on tv - and now I'm on another Because I Said So kick and want to watch it constantly, haha), so it wasn't ALL running around, although it was pretty busy. Like all vacations, it ended too soon. I'm not really ready to be back, but I have to be. And of course, I have a crazy busy week this week...I have to take my car in for an oil change one morning (still need to call them to schedule), I have a doctor appointment on Thursday, a meeting on Saturday, and about 5 or 6 people I need to see in the evenings at some point this week. And I'm really tired, because Marcus has been sick for a few days, and so his snoring has been a lot worse than normal, and I haven't been sleeping well as a result. So yeah, I'm pretty tired, haha.
Oh, and before I forget, HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone! I'm so glad 2008 is finally over! Hopefully 2009 will be much better, but we'll see how it goes. I have made 2 New Years resolutions this year: 1) to exercise more regularly, and 2) to start cooking more. The second one at least will be greatly aided if Marcus gets a new job with more normal hours...I honestly don't have much motivation to cook if it's just me eating by myself! But if he's gonna be home for dinner, I'd definitely be a little more motivated. So we'll see how that goes.
I got lots of new books and movies for Hanukkah and my birthday! I got a couple of new (well, new for me, lol) Orson Scott Card books, a new Tad Williams book, and the entire Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series (so I'm finally getting around to actually reading those, after meaning to for several years). As for movies, I got the American Pie 3-movie box set, Definitely Maybe, Dogma, Father of the Bride 1 and 2, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Sex and the City, Sweet Home Alabama, and WALL-E. Marcus and I also got The 90's Game, as well as a murder mystery party game that we'll definitely be hosting at some point this year! We also got a bunch of gift cards to various restaurants and Target. And of course, I also got the requisite calendars (wall calendar and desk calendar).
So that's about it for now. I'm kind of out of it right now, because I haven't had a chance to settle back into a normal routine yet. In a way that's good, I guess, because it keeps me from looking ahead too much.
I hope you all have a wonderful 2009!
