Ok...so I know that I said I would update w/ stories about my trip...and I will. Its just that Ive been busy w/ college crap, and resting, and Im a lazy procrastinator, so it might be awhile. =)
So, I was trying to go to sleep, but I couldnt. While lying in my bed, I thought of a goosebump storie that I posted in a bulletin on Myspace, and thought that I would find more. Dont ask me where or how I got these, because I dont know. I have some had these saved for awhile on my computer, b/c I like them. They were from emails, journals, or something similar. So here they are: (the 1st one is the one in my bulletin)
She had gone to visit
some friends one
evening
and time passed quickly as each shared
their
various experiences of the past year.
She ended up staying longer than
planned,
and
had to walk home alone. She wasn't
afraid
because it was a small town and she lived
only
a
few blocks away.
As she walked along under the tall elm
trees,
Diane asked God to keep her safe from
harm
and
danger.
When she reached the alley, which was a
short
cut to her house, she decided to take it.
However, halfway down the alley she
noticed
a
man standing at the end as though he
were
waiting
for her.
She became uneasy and began to pray,
asking
for
God's protection.
Instantly a comforting feeling of quietness
and
security wrapped round her, she felt as
though
someone was walking with her.
When she reached the end of the alley,
she
walked right past the man and arrived
home
safely.
The following day, she read in the
newspaper
that
a young girl had been raped in the same
alley
just
twenty minutes after she had been there.
Feeling overwhelmed by this tragedy and
the
fact
that it could have been her, she began to
weep.
Thanking the Lord for her safety and to
help
this
young woman, she decided to go to the
police
station.
She felt she could recognize the man, so
she
told
them her story.
The police asked her if she would be
willing to
look
at a lineup to see if she could identify
him.
She agreed and immediately pointed out
the
man
she had seen in the alley the night
before.
When the man was told he had been
identified,
he
immediately broke down and confessed.
The officer thanked Diane for her bravery
and
asked if there was anything they could do
for
her.
She asked if they would ask the man one
question.
Diane was curious as to why he had not
attacked
her.
When the policeman asked him, he
answered, "Because she wasn't alone.
She
had
two tall men walking on either side of
her."
This is a true story of something that happened just a few years ago at
>USC. I think this is Univ. of S. Carolina
>
>There was a professor of philosophy there who was a deeply committed
>atheist.
>
>His primary goal for one required class was to spend the entire semester to
>prove that God couldn't exist.
>
>His students were always afraid to argue with him because of his impeccable
>logic.
>
>Sure, some had argued in class at times, but no one had ever really gone
>against him because of his reputation.
>
>At the end of every semester on the last day, he would say to his class of
>300 students,
>
>"If there is anyone here who still
>believes in Jesus, stand
up!"
>
>In twenty years, no one had ever stood up. They knew what he was going to
>do next. He would say, "Because anyone who believes in God is a fool".
>
>If God existed, he could stop this piece of chalk from hitting the ground
>and breaking. Such a simple task to prove that He is God, and yet He can't
>do it."
>
>And every year, he would drop the chalk onto the tile floor of the
>classroom and it would shatter into a hundred pieces.
>
>All of the students would do nothing but stop and stare.
>
>Most of the students thought that God couldn't exist. Certainly, a number
>of Christians had slipped through, but for 20 years, they had been too
>afraid to stand up.
>
>Well, a few years ago there was a freshman who happened to enroll.
>
>He was a Christian, and had heard the stories about his
professor.
>
>
>He was required to take the class for his major, and he was afraid. But for
>three months that semester, he prayed every morning that he would have the
>courage to stand up no matter what the professor said, or what the class
>thought.
>
>Nothing they said could ever shatter his faith...he hoped.
>
>Finally, the day came. ! The professor said, "If there is anyone here who
>still believes in God, stand up!" The professor and the class of
>300 people looked at him, shocked, as he stood up at the back of the
>classroom.
>
>The professor shouted, "You FOOL!!!
>
>If God existed, he would keep this piece of chalk from breaking when it hit
>the ground!"
>
>He proceeded to drop the chalk, but as he did, it slipped out of his
>fingers, off his shirt cuff, onto the pleat of his
pants, down his leg,
>and off his
>shoe. As it hit the ground, it simply rolled away unbroken. The
>professor's jaw dropped as he stared at the chalk. He looked up at the
>young man, and then ran out of the lecture hall.
>
>The young man who had stood, proceeded to walk to the front of the room and
>shared his faith in Jesus for the next half hour. 300 students stayed and
>listened as he told of God's love for them and of His power through Jesus.
Her hair was up in a pony tail,
her favorite dress tied with a bow.
Today was Daddy's Day at school,
and she couldn't wait to go.
But her mommy tried to tell her,
that she probably should stay home.
Why the kids might not understand,
if she went to school alone.
But she was not afraid; she knew just what to say. What to tell her classmates of why he wasn't there today.
But still her mother worried,
for her to face this day alone.
And that was why once again,
she tried to keep her daughter home.
But the little girl went to school
eager to tell them all.
About a dad she never sees;
a dad who never calls.
There were daddies along the wall in back, for everyone to meet.
Children squirming impatiently,
anxious in their seats
One by one the teacher called a student from the class.
To introduce their daddy, as seconds slowly passed.
At last the teacher called her name,
every child turned to stare.
Each of them was searching,
for a man who wasn't there.
"Where's her daddy at?"
she heard a boy call out.
"She probably doesn't have one,"
another student dared to shout.
And from somewhere near the back,
she heard a daddy say,
"Looks like another deadbeat dad,
too busy to waste his day."
The words did not offend her,
as she smiled up at her Mom.
And looked back at her teacher,
who told her to go on.
And with hands behind her back,
slowly she began to speak.
And out from the mouth of a child,
came words incredibly unique.
"My Daddy couldn't be here,
because he lives so far away.
But I know he wishes he could be,
since this is such a special day.
And though you cannot meet him,
I wanted you to know.
All about my daddy,
and how much he loves me so.
He loved to tell me stories
he taught me to ride my bike.
He surprised me with pink roses,
and taught me to fly a kite.
We used to share fudge sundaes,
and ice cream in a cone.
And though you cannot see him.
I'm not standing here alone.
"Cause my daddy's always with me,
even though we are apart
I know because he told me,
he'll forever be in my heart"
With that, her little hand reached up,
and lay across her chest.
Feeling her own heartbeat,
beneath her favorite dress.
And from somewhere here in the crowd of dads, her mother stood in tears.
Proudly watching her daughter,
who was wise beyond her years.
For she stood up for the love
of a man not in her life.
Doing what was best for her,
doing what was right.
And when she dropped her hand back down, staring straight into the crowd.
She finished with a voice so soft,
but its message clear and loud.
"I love my daddy very much,
he's my shining star.
And if he could, he'd be here,
but heaven's just too far
You see he was a firefighter
and died just this past year
When airplanes hit the towers
and taught Americans to fear.
But sometimes when I close my eyes,
it's like he never went away."
And then she closed her eyes,
and she saw him there that day.
And to her mothers amazement,
she witnessed with surprise
A room full of daddies and children,
all starting to close their eyes.
Who knows what they saw before them,
who knows what they felt inside.
Perhaps for merely a second,
they saw him at her side.
"I know you're with me Daddy,"
to the silence she called out.
And what happened next made believers,
of those once filled with doubt.
Not one in that room could explain it,
for each of their eyes had been closed.
But there on the desk beside her,
was a fragrant long-stemmed pink rose.
And a child was blessed, if only for a moment,
by the love of her shining star.
And given the gift of believing,
that heaven is never too far.
They say it takes a minute to find a special
person, an hour to appreciate them,
a day to love them, but then an entire
life to forget them.
REPOST THIS to show APPRCIATION for the people you'll never forget . It's a short message to let them know
that you'll never forget them.
If you don't REPOST THIS, it means you're
in a hurry and that you've forgotten your
friends.
Take the time...to live and love.
The surgeon
came out of the operating room. She said: "How is
my little boy? Is he going to be all right? When can
I see him?"
The surgeon said, "I'm sorry. We did all we could,
but your boy didn't make it."
Sally said, "Why do little children get cancer?
Doesn't God care any more? Where were you,
God, when my son needed you?"
The surgeon asked, "Would you like some time
alone with your son? One of the nurses will be out
in a few minutes, before he's transported to the
university."
Sally asked the nurse to stay with her while she
said good-bye to son. She ran her fingers lovingly
through his thick red curly hair.
"Would you like a lock of his hair?" the nurse
asked.
Sally nodded yes. The nurse cut a lock of the
boy's hair, put it in a plastic bag and handed it to
Sally. The mother said, "It was Jimmy's idea to
donate his body to the University for Study. He
said it might help somebody else. "I said no at
first, but Jimmy said, 'Mom, I won't be using it after
I die. Maybe it will help some other little boy spend
one more day with his Mom." She went on, "My
Jimmy had a heart of gold. Always thinking of
someone else. Always wanting to help others if he
could."
Sally walked out of Children's mercy Hospital for
the last time, after spending most of the last six
months there. She put the bag with Jimmy's
belongings on the seat beside her in the car. The
drive home was difficult. It was even harder to
enter
the empty house. She carried Jimmy's belongings,
and the plastic bag with the lock of his hair to her
son's room. She started placing the model cars
and other personal things back in his room exactly
where he had always kept them. She laid down
across his bed and, hugging his pillow, cried
herself to sleep.
It was around midnight when Sally awoke. Laying
beside her on the bed was a folded letter. The
letter said:
"Dear Mom, I know you're going to miss me; but
don't think that I will ever forget you, or stop
loving
you, just 'cause I'm not around to say I LOVE
YOU. I will always love you, Mom, even more with
each day. Someday we will see each other again.
Until then, if you want to adopt a little boy so you
won't be so lonely, that's okay with me. He can
have my room and old stuff to play with. But, if you
decide to get a girl instead, she probably wouldn't
like the same things us boys do. You'll have to buy
her dolls and stuff girls like, you know. Don't be
sad thinking about me. This really is a neat place.
Grandma and Grandpa met me as soon as I got
here and showed me around some, but it will take
a long time to see everything. The angels are so
cool. I love to watch them fly. And, you know
what? Jesus doesn't look like any of his pictures.
Yet, when I saw Him, I knew it was Him. Jesus
himself took me to see GOD! And guess what,
Mom? I got to sit on God's knee and talk to Him,
like I was somebody important. That's when I told
Him that I wanted to write you a letter, to tell you
good-bye and everything. But I already knew that
wasn't allowed. Well, you know what Mom? God
handed me some paper and His own personal pen
to write you this letter. I think Gabriel is the name
of the angel who is going to drop this letter off to
you. God said for me to give you the answer to
one
of the questions you asked Him 'Where was He
when I needed him?' "God said He was in the
same place with me, as when His son Jesus was
on the cross. He was right there, as He always is
with all His children.
Oh, by the way, Mom, no one else can see what
I've written except you. To everyone else this is
just a blank piece of paper. Isn't that cool? I have
to give God His pen back now. He needs it to write
some more names in the Book of Life. Tonight I
get to sit at the table with Jesus for supper. I'm,
sure the food will be great.
Oh, I almost forgot to tell you. I don't hurt anymore.
The cancer is all gone. I'm glad because I couldn't
stand that pain anymore and God couldn't stand to
see me hurt so much, either. That's when He sent
The Angel of Mercy to come get me. The Angel
said I was a Special Delivery! How about that?
Signed with Love from God, Jesus & Me.
Each of these gave me goosebumps when I read them, and still do. If you have goosebump stories, send them to me, I like them. I have a few personal ones, but they will have to wait for another day, b/c I think I can sleep now, and I would have to type them out. God Bless!
