You're the piece of gold that sparkles on my soul

The past few days have been absolutely crazy (but in a good way). I had a very short week this week. On Monday, I had the day off due to a curriculum work day that I wasn't required to attend. I didn't have to be into work until 9:45 on Thursday and I had Friday off due to Good Friday. To make this week even better, I was on spring break from school. Unfortunately though, it's back to the daily grind on Monday.

Thursday night I ended up hanging out with the guy I mentioned in previous entries. We watched "The Virgin Suicides" (one of my all time favorite movies). I was impressed that he actually liked it; most people don't "get" it. We had a nice time and I'm hanging out with him at some point in the next few days. Surprisingly, things are going smoothly thus far. I'm just taking it one day at a time.

On Friday, I was hoping to go to the Eastern part of the state around noon in order to catch up with some old friends. However, due to scheduling conflicts I didn't end up seeing them. I suppose it happens but I was slightly irritated.

In addition, Jenn decided to throw her fiance Todd a birthday party. I left for their area around 4:30 because I figured rush hour traffic might hold up my commute (It typically takes 45 minutes-1 hour to get to their house). Plus, I had to stop at Target to get Todd a gift card and buy an Easter card for Jenn and Todd. To my dismay, an entire part of my route was blocked up due to a car accident. Thank God for my GPS! The GPS recommended an alternate route through a part of the state I had never been through. I would have been completely lost without it because I have absolutely no sense of direction. I was really worried I would be running late, but I arrived exactly at 6:00 (the time Jenn told me to arrive).

Jenn, Todd, Todd's sister Nicole and I left for this Japanese hibachi restaurant called Kyoto. I had never been to a hibachi style restaurant but I was really impressed. The food was absolutely delicious. Not to mention, there was a great turn out which made the dinner even better. Jenn surprised Todd with a cake and singing happy birthday. To top off the night, our happy birthday song included a big gong! It was quite fun.

After dinner, we headed back to Jenn and Todd's for a bit of an after party. It was fun but I was completely exhausted by 2 am. I woke up at 9:30 the next morning and headed out by 11. Jenn and Todd are entertaining for Easter and I felt that I should try to clear out of there as soon as possible.

I arrived home around 12:15ish. I took a shower, got in my pajamas and relaxed. I headed to the mall to pick up a few essentials and came back here to work on my knitting and watch "Donnie Darko" (another completely amazing movie). And hence, here I am!

In other news, it came to my attention that I am required to do 300 hours of graduate level student teaching for my M.Ed. To my dismay, I am being forced by my program to quit my job at the high school because essentially there are very few jobs that can count as student teaching. It's been a good experience but unfortunately I am being forced to leave. I've been applying for assistantships at UMASS and hopefully one of those will work out. In addition, it was brought to my attention that I am qualified to be an adjunct instructor at a community college. To teach at a community college, all that is required includes "advanced degree in related subject area in progress." I am indeed pursuing an advanced degree in a related area (I applied to teach psychology and education). That would be an absolutely fabulous opportunity and I would love to teach at the college level. In addition, the positions I applied for are part time so I could do my student teaching and continue going to school. I just need everything to fall into place for things to work out. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Back to reality this week. How many more days until April vacation?
