a whole lot of houses and house-type stuff

I went on a driving tour of West Seattle today. I used my Windermere favorites list and turned it into a custom Google map. Then I created driving directions from each house to the next. That worked out pretty well.

I drove by 15 houses, some more quickly than others. ;) Of those 15, there are 8 that I want to look at. Not bad, really. I like having choices.

There was one in particular that I drove by and grabbed a flyer. The owner was there doing some yard work and offered to give me a tour. She had two really sweet pups. (One a lab and the other a border collie.) The house was pretty great, but a few things I'd want to change (like replace the carpeting in the bedrooms). It has oil heat, which I'm pretty sure I hate. The house I rented before I bought my condo had oil heat. I really didn't like it then.

The interesting thing about it is I was just looking at some sites to get an idea how much it would cost to convert an oil furnace to something else. It seems like most of WS has oil heat, so there's a very good chance the place I fall in love with will have it. I never even thought about this before, but you can use biodiesel in your oil tank. Why didn't I realize that on my own? That's really freaking cool. It does make me like oil heat just a tad bit more... but I'm still not sold. We'll see.

Anyway, back to the house. Like I said, it was pretty great. Had enough rooms, nicely remodeled, had a view, etc. Not in what I would consider the best neighborhood in WS, but apparently that little area is nice. I screwed up one of the wheels on my car when I was parking there, though, so I think that is clouding my judgment a little. Wheels do not play nicely with cement. I just scratched it, but I'm sure it'll have to be replaced and it just makes me sad.

So I have eight houses to look at sometime in the next week or so. My place should go on the market this week. I've got everything that needs to be done scheduled to be taken care of early in the week. Hopefully the weather will cooperate for the pictures.

It's going to be weird having to live in a place that's always ready to show to a potential buyer. I'm not used to everything being in its place all the time. Then again I'm also used to showering at 2 or 3 in the afternoon and that will probably need to change too. I hope this doesn't take too long. ;)

I'm exhausted and I think the commercial Tilex I used this morning is still messing with my head.
