Questions for someone of the Christian Faith.

These are the questions I was going to ask on the night of Kat's confirmation. (This was not why I went to Kat's confirmation, however Kat actually suggested asking questions so I wrote a few down.) Once again, congratulations to Kat for her confirmation and public declaration of her faith ( Read more... )

"so then we get into the was jesus who he said he was thing?
thats a big question, to be addressed another time soon"

This can never be answered. Jesus existed and was a religious speaker, that much we know. However there had been many men in that period who claimed to be the "messiah" of which the Old testament described, as well as there were many men preaching their own religions and religious belief. Did you know that Christianity was not founded in the origins of Judaism. The Christian doctrine is heavily influenced by Greco-Roman tradition and philosophy. Is it not unreasonable for the Jews to disbelieve that Christ was the son of God? Is it not unreasonable for Jews to disbelieve that Christ was just another religious prophet or speaker preaching his own values?
With a religion already based on Faith alone (Judaism) is it not unreasonable to not believe in something completely separate from this faith?
Since God is all knowing and omnipotent, would not God consider the reasons for this disbelief in according salvation and damnation to Jews? Such as in the situation of a child who lives in a cave never hearing of Christ, or a mentally handicapped person who does not have the potential to be taught of Christ?

Christ's resurrection can never be proven. It is merely heresay by people who may have witnessed it, however may also have conjured it up to fulfil Christ's own prophecy of his death?

I guess my point in response to these questions is: Faith cannot be used as an excuse to make people believe in something which essentially could have been made up by me or you. God (whoever it is) endowed us with reason and senses with which to influence our decision making? Is it not unreasonable that Human beings as created by God would need evidence to substantiate their necessity in life through their own reason? Simply put, that we need sensory proof?

To me, Faith is the loophole that makes believing unbelievable things possible. Moreso, believing anything possible, even if it was untrue.

I want to use reason to conclude my origins, who I am and what the universe is about? Faith is not reason, faith is the hope that something massively unbelievable will happen to you. Noone wants to die.

Anyways, thats me done for now.
