yesterday morning, i walked out my front door to go to work, and with the temperature at 6 AM, it could have been mid-summer... it was beautiful and warm, and the longer i was out the stranger it felt, becuase though the temperature said mid-summer, the light, it's angle, it's clarity, distinctly said fall... this morning though, this morning, i woke up and fall had arrived... the air was cool, the light crystal clear, the sky somewhat overcast, with pockets of deep blue peeking through here and there... and the trees, with their beautiful greens of summer, had begun in earnest to shed their monochrome splendor in favor of their riotous fall displays of color... the early red and orange start of the maples is being quickly joined by the yellows of the beech and birch, creeping up the edges of leaves here, taking over a branch there, while in the swamps and lowlands the swamp maples look as if they have burst joyously into living flame... it is enough to make me catch my breath in awe... fall, autumn, season of harvest, and celebration of the fullness of life, welcome once again...
leaves,
autumn,
