Ruben came over around 7:PM and we decided on Bavarian Lodge in Lisle
run by Alan and Dan, friends of mine.
We ordered their sausage plate appetizer, and Alan had time to sit and
talk with us as we munched.
As we were in the process of ordering our main dish when Sangho, Wil, and
Jay arrived. They were taking Jay for a birthday dinner, and happened
to choose the same time and place as us. They were seated next to us
so we could converse.
I had a great combo, some cabbage soup, sort of schnitzel, and european
meatloaf, dumplings, and creamed spinach. Ruben had another kind of
schnitzel, and I think some sort of breaded fried chicken. He also had
the creamed spinach and mashed potatoes.
As we were finishing dinner, Alan re-appeared and was able to talk with
us the rest of the evening. He even treated Ruben and me to dessert.
We were stuffed already, but managed to split an apple strudel with
whipped cream.
Sangho and Wil managed to get a piece of cake with a candle for Jay's
birthday.
We talked until the place was emptied out and they were about to close.
I had a great night. Special thanks to Alan, who's always a great
host and friend. If you're anywhere near Lisle, I'd highly recommend
