the terror that is
we once again chose a terrible place to camp for the night with the mountains and stream...it was terrible i say...
it wasn't until this point on the trip though that i got a picture of one of the most important companions on our journey...
(BUDDHA! the worlds most well-traveled finger puppet (and a birthday present from Jon Saas Sophomore year))
Milford is supposed to be beautiful, and it definitely was in its own
way, but the day we were there the weather was terrifying. at one
point on the trip we actually had 100 knot winds blowing around
us. given, i'm not all that comfortable in boats in the first
place, but its even worse when the damn thing is in the middle of a
storm, so i didn't get many pictures...
(you can see the cafe we ate at right in front of the mountain and behind the lake in the photo)
(previous three shots are from near the docks where the boats set out, and before the weather got scary)
(one of my few shots from the actual tour, when the weather had chilled out for a few minutes)
since you didn't get many shots of Milford you'll just have to settle for a shot of me chilling inside the boat
(i don't really remember who had the camera at this point, but i'm sure they deserved the incredulous look)
after leaving Milford we headed back south and went through Te Anau
again and headed towards Invercargill and Bluff so that we could go to
Stewart Island the next day and stopped off at McCracken's Rest (mostly
for the name i think b/c there are definitely photos of Thayer and
Chase mooning us from behind the sign, but i thought i'd go for a more
pleasant photo)
