The JVC called back this afternoon. I've been accepted by the Maryland office. They should have a placement lined up by next week.
On hanging up the phone, I did the same thing as the last time I was offered a job. I plugged in my CD player and jumped around to Bruce Springsteen.
I'm looking into other stuff, too; I've been in contact with the Tacoma Catholic Workers, there's a social justice job open at Jesuit in Portland, and I'm applying to teach high school English at a Nashville, TN girls school (the first thing I thought to do after seeing the TN opening was google the distance from Nashville to Gethsemani).
To hell with it, right now I'm just happy about the ten dollars in my pocket, Paul Elie, and the Jesuit Volunteers.
jvc,
letters to the future
