I haven't even told y'all about my awesome Regency event in upstate New York last weekend (and hoo boy was it awesome!) and I'm already started on another gown!
I have a upcoming fancy-pants Regency gaming night this coming Saturday, and my only Regency dresses are un fancy-pants cotton print working dresses, so a new one is in order! I've decided to face up to my dread of boring old white gowns and just go ahead and make one. I've had some gorgeous cotton voile in the stash for a while and one of my favorite portraits has been dancing around in my head:
Portrait of Laure Bro, 1820.
I've always adored the bodice of this gown. It is simple, elegant, and somehow still interesting despite being all white. I do desperately need to add some color into it, so thank goodness for the blue ribbon! I have a really beautiful green that should stand in nicely, since I'm sadly lacking in my blue ribbon department. And naturally a big turban is in order!
I love the tucks at the bottom as well, but I'm not sure I'll have time for them. I sure hope so!
This is my first time working with voile- I hope it doesn't make me tear my hair out!
Progress pictures tomorrow!
