(I only wish the "Dean goes under as a gay porn star and Carter has to help him out" on AO3 was as good. Because the premise is awesome--undercover together is one of my nearly bulletproof kinks. However, I may write Carter as fairly dom most of the time, but I don't write him as an exclusive top when it comes to fucking, so that bugged me right there. Also, Dean whimpering in bed did not hit my buttons).
What did is "The Boys Down in Silver Lake" (also on AO3)--Dean/Jaimie, genderfuck because she's making him up to go seduce a target who goes for that. Which I know after SR is totally not your kink, but it worked for me (especially since my headcanon for Jaimie with Dean and/or Carter is that she likes to mess with gender roles. Which is probably why I've written her pegging Dean twice and Ty once, and the backstory in my head for Shift is that her and Carter enjoy that as an occasional thing ( ... )

I haven't been keeping up with my friendspage either, so I hear ya. Good luck with everything! I've been doing alright. Graduating in December (if all goes well, anyway; my group partner is even more of a slacker than I am, so it's rough going). Still trying to find a job so I can afford the rest of the semester. Then I have to find a job so I can be gainfully employed after I finally graduate. Alas, the real world. ):
Fandom-wise, I'm mostly in Inception and Suits lately. I'm currently nearly done with a Suits transfic that's about 2600 words and, once it's done, will be the longest thing I've ever finished, so that's exciting. Whether it's any good or not remains to be seen, but oh well. :D
(PS: If you're not watching Suits, you should be. Trust me, this is your kind of subtext. And season 2 doesn't premiere until next summer (!), so you have plenty of time to catch up.)

I'll cross my fingers that you'll be walking the stage (or whatever your college does) in December to get your diploma. And best of luck finding a job, both to afford finishing your degree and to survive post-college.
I have yet to see Inception, but I mainlined Suits. Because yes, Mike and Harvey are somarried (and I admit that I want Rachel/Donna too. And I have occasional thoughts about Jessica Domming Harvey and/or Mike, because she's just that awesome).
Who are you writing as trans? My immediate thought would be Mike, with Jessica as my second guess. Although pretty much any of the main characters could be. And I kind of like the thought of Trevor as trans, and that that's one reason he's dealing--he wants to be as male-bodied as surgery can make him, and from what little I know about it, full gender reassignment surgery is pretty damn expensive, especially if you're going FtM.
I'm looking forward to the trans Suits fic, so please send me a link when it's finished.

Gasp! This is a travesty, I hope you know. (It took me until November to see it, myself. And now I've seen it 11 times. Because it's amazing and my new favorite and I love it. Also, it has almost as much crossover potential as Quantum Leap, so that's been fun.) If you need a download link, I can probably hook you up.

Re: fic, I don't deal with a lot of the issues you're bringing up because this is from Harvey's POV, but basically, yeah, she breaks my heart forever.
I will put you on the list of people to email with the pseudo-finished product, but right now apparently what I needed to hear (and did) was that it doesn't suck and is worth finishing before trying to rewrite the entire last half. Now that I've gotten that reassurance, I'm hopefully going to be able to find some way to fit in this one last part that I think it needs, and then you're welcome to it.
