I know. I like telling people they've made a pairing I don't usually read work pretty well for me. :D

Holidays were good, the semester..... well, that's something else. DX And happy belated new year to you too.

I did get started, but RL sapped a lot of my inspiration, and a few other muses decided to bludgeon my brain into working for them. Including these guys: http://community.livejournal.com/the_gas_station/197381.html Yes, I wrote slash for an old kids cartoon. XD Also, The Losers have rather eaten my brain, so I'm writing a story for them, a SGA fic inspired by a drawing someone did, a CSI story in jetpack_angel's We Don't Die universe, and a SG-1 fic. And they all seem to talk for a bit all at once and then go quiet. It hurts my brain.

I do like the concept, it's just not a pairing I really go for. Like in CSI, a lot of people do the Greg/Sara route, but that just squiks me out. I have a friend who was a guy, but I could never see myself with him like that. Plus he's gay. We were very close, but there was nothing sexual about it(I was actually one of the few girls he would let hug him. It was his thing). I saw that kind of relationship between Greg and Sara; something teasing and comfortable and friendly and very close, but nothing sexual about it. Yeah, there was the initial crush, but it settled into simple friendship. Others, may not be my cup of tea, but I can see where the writer saw the potential.

I've read plenty of good fic that wasn't necessarily my pairing. Hell, there's a very well-written (imo) Carter/Alex that I commented approvingly on and told the author I really, really didn't like the ship and I still liked their work. Because getting me to like something I hate as much as I hate Carter/Alex takes work.

The only way I want them together is OT5. I will forever maintain that it would have been infinitely cooler to have canon Alex/Jaimie. I don't know why we couldn't at least have had them do the fake-girlfriends for a case thing.

I'm glad to hear your holidays were good, but I'm sorry to hear that your semester wasn't the greatest.

I find the slashing of an old kids cartoon amusing. But then I've been reading a lot of community.livejournal.com/weepingcock (ridiculously bad pr0n) lately and they actually have a "raping my childhood week". Although I'm positive yours is light-years above that dreck in quality.

I have yet to actually see The Losers, but I've read a fair amount of fic for the movieverse (mostly Cougar/Jensen. Did I ever send you the one where Jensen's a were-cat and so are his sister and niece? It's pretty awesome. Cougar/Jensen, Rish.) So your writing fic for it makes me happy.

I never managed to get into SGA as a series, but I've read plenty of good fic for it (I watched a lot more eps of SG-1, actually). Send me the link to the finished products (or if you want a basic beta job, send me the rough draft. I'm not going to be much use for characterization issues, though).

I keep meaning to read the We Don't Die thing because Mac as a vampire just sounds really interesting. Is there a 'verse tag or something?

I can't really see Greg/Sara either (or for that matter, Nick/Sara). Not that I wouldn't read it but it's not really my preferred pairing. Personally, Nick's pretty much a little black dress, but the closest I came to a old-school CSI OTP was Nick/Warrick.

(In slightly related news, I really wish someone would have written Nick/Vega--or whatever his name is who's the hot Hispanic cop in Snakes (with all the narcocorridos and the reporter's head in a box with a snake in her mouth or something like that). Just because it would be pretty and they kind of had chemistry in that ep.)

Emotional and even physical closeness don't automatically equal sexual attraction, so I can understand you having a guy friend who (sexual orientation aside) you'd never go to the NC-17 level with. And I can see that influencing how you see Greg and Sara.

The muses talking all at once and then shutting up for extended periods--a lot of times when I'm actively writing I'll have more than one fic I'm working on, and then I'll have periods where the most creative I feel is answering e-mails. So I can understand that feeling.

Yeah. Doesn't have to be my favorite pairing to read it, just has to be well written. The fake-girlfriends/fake-boyfriends for a case would definitely be pretty awesome. Why can the writers never get this right?

I re-found the show twice recently, and this time around gained the muses to go with. And yeah, that..... **shudders** Of course, I got an anonymous review on my fic that was all "Dreams don't work like that" and it really pissed me off. It's a literary device. And I just... The bit with the "It's going too fast, and the emotional reactions are too brief and intense" and I'm all, "That's what emotions are. Richie is scared and he lashes out, but Virgil reminds him he's dealt with similar shit, and I've seen things like that happen." But I couldn't say that, because it was an anonymous review. **grumbles** Your review definitely made me feel better, because it was like the antithesis of the other, with more likes, and only one small nitpick, rather than a bunch of nitpicks with a couple "But I did actually like it!" bits. Hello, you're just being a bitch. /ranting

ANYWAY!! Yeah, you sent me that. :D

Yeah, it's still pretty early on in the writing, so it won't be ready for any read-throughs anytime soon, and it's mostly crack. XD

http://jetpack-angel.livejournal.com/tag/fic%20series:%20we%20don't%20die You'll have to click back to get to the first chapter, and it's a little bit confusing at first because of all the time-frame jumps, but it makes sense after a bit.

I don't see Nick/Sara either. That's another more brother/sister type relationship. I'm definitely more of a Nick/Greg shipper, if anything. XD But yeah, I saw so much of us in Greg and Sara, and a little in Nick's relationship with Sara. I have read some really good comfort!fic between Greg and Sara, with the close-but-not-sexual vibe.

(I can almost see that one, but I didn't really see that kind of chemistry. It seemed more bonding as friends to me.)

**cheers** I hate people who are like "But if you're close, surely there's an attraction there?" Yes, I could see he's a good looking guy. No, I don't want to have sex with him.

They're kinda quiet right now, so the ones that are talking I can hear better and focus on what they're saying. :D

Fake girlfriends/boyfriends is an inherently great cliche in my book. And DB had Dean/Jaimie for Ice and Carter/Jaimie for Betsy and the whole shipping drugs in flowers deal, so I think having Alex/Jaimie, Dean/Carter, or Dean/Ty would have been really awesome. (Despite having written them having sex in TDBLAN, I've never really wanted to see fake Ty/Carter.)

If it's a recurrent dream and he writes it down right away, I think he could conceivably remember at least some details. And yeah, literary device. Also, on the intense emotions thing, these are relatively young guys, who've been through a lot together and have a pretty deep underlying emotional bond. I gave you the kind of review I generally try to provide, where I mention things I specifically liked (and the one issue I did have).

My issue with the anon review thing is kind of the flip side--somebody left a very nice review on Benefits that made me want to discuss Dean/Ty with them, and like you, I can't contact them because they were anonymous. So I left them a shout-out with my fannish email on the ff.net version of Masquerade because I figured it was my best bet.

I love crack. Please, this is me who wrote Dean with temporary girlparts and made him into a part-time kitty.

Speaking of crack, did I tell you about wanting to write Dean/Dean Winchester wingporn? The theory at the moment is DeanB wakes up with wings, gets drunk, calls Carter, who calls the Winchesters because it's Carter and he magically knows everything including that they deal with freaky stuff, who call Bobby and his demon (I find Crowley/Bobby amusing, although I really want more Dean/Crowley) and Sam's angel(s) (because in my head he's dating Castiel at least and maybe a resurrected Gabriel too).

And the magic solution is sex with the wings out with someone who can touch them. And their mutual instant hard-ons when the two Deans try nominates DeanW for the honors. (And since I'd kind of like deansquared with an actual relationship it's only a temporary cure, so DeanW starts swinging through LA every couple of months. I see Sam teasing his big brother about six to eight months in when Dean turns down a Christina Hendricks lookalike waitress that he must be missing his boyfriend).

I'll have to check that out, so thanks for the link.

I'd read Nick/Sara but I never really saw it. And I can see how someone could take the Greg&Sara dynamic and turn it into comfort fic.

To each their own--Warrick's whole emotional mess (including marrying Tina) after Grave Danger could be seen as he realizes he doesn't just care about/love Nick as his best friend when he's faced with watching Nick die, and there's some other moments of arguable subtextyness that I can't remember because I haven't really watched any flavor of CSI in forever. And probably part of the reason I see them as Nick/Warrick is that whole weakness of mine for best friends taking it to the romantic level.

Apparently those people don't believe it's possible to notice someone's looks and appreciate their personality without wanting to drag them off to bed. Which makes me wonder about their relationships.

The muses quieting down a little and letting you concentrate on what they're saying instead of it being a din of overlapping noise sounds like it might be helpful. I'll look forward to when your fic is at least at read-through status.

Exactly! I have no problem with anon reviews that are thoughtful/complimentary/small quibbles. Those I can understand. When the review is all "this is wrong and this is wrong and this is wrong but it's a good story!" I just... I want to strangle them. Because that's really back-handed. It's like telling someone "you're really fast for being fat" or "you're really smart for a country kid." It's insulting, and not trying to help the writer at all.

LOL. Yeah, I should have figured. And you did mention wanting Dean/Dean Winchester, but I don't recall the wing bit.

Oh, and you'll probably have to copy it, because the link cut itself apart, so it won't go to the right place.

I saw where they got it from, but I didn't see it myself. Definitely!

I mean, I can see where you would see that, but I just can't see them as more than occasional fuck-buddies. But Nick and Greg, I totally see that.

Apparently, they don't have very healthy relationships. Because how can you think every relationship a person has has to be about sex?

:D I shall let you know when I'm ready to post.

Personally, I tend not to comment at all on stories that I don't find at least good. (Although hottie555's Dean/Carter on ff.net I commented on the first few chapters that "the concepts are good but your editing is abysmal" because it was. And did not get any better. And the second to latest chapter has Carter paddling Dean because he hasn't eaten in five days, so yeah, I really wouldn't advise reading it.)

If you ever checked out my memories list, I've actually got amusement and crack tags. (Fair warning if you do, I've got a lot of memmed RPS and no, I don't actually believe it, although I still think Jensen and Jared have a) read Jsquared considering IIRC at least one of them's admitted to reading Wincest and b) have at points deliberately made it easy to slash them). So me writing rather crackily themed stories isn't terribly surprising.

What made the wingporn idea pop up was "hey I'm kind of running DeanB through the fannish cliches lately, why not wingporn?" (Although I promise to never write Dean pregnant.)

And ever since writing DeanB hitting on DeanW so he knows whether he can deal with the guy thing before he pounces Carter, I've kind of wanted DeanB/DeanW where there's an actual relationship between them. Mostly for the hot factor--I'm shallow like that. But I think they could actually understand at least some of each other's lives (the whole "can't really talk to normal people about what we do" thing), and they could definitely bond over guns. So it kind of seemed to be a natural progression to have the wingporn be deansquared.

I was planning on copying it, because I saw it wasn't all blue and underlined.

Hey, I've read and liked plenty of Nick/Greg, so I fully understand seeing that. And I can see Nick and Warrick doing the "help a friend out" kind of sex, I just like it better when their feelings towards each other are closer to romantic.

I definitely agree on the unhealthy relationships thing.

I appreciate knowing you'll give me a heads-up, so thanks very much.
