so, ive come the the conclusion that without swimming i would probably go insane. id have nothing to do without it. id be bored! im not motivated enough to excercise on my own, trust me. and theres so much stuff you learn from it.

#1 how many sports are honestly this boring? meets are 4 hours but you swim a totaly of about 10 minutes tops. you swim back and forth over and over again and all you can do to keep yourself busy is sing to yourself. it teaches you patience and how to relax because with all the time spent on swimming we dont get a lot of down time.

#2 how many sports are co-ed? no, like really co-ed. we swim in the same water they spit in, and sometimes pee in (if youve really gotta go, youve gotta go). and like, we're with them 24/7. its like you learn to be one of the guys, you almost have to. survival of the fittest almost. their humor does eventually become funny, believe it or not.

#3 how many sports aren't for a team? your always working to improve your own times and unless its highschool swimming or beach club, uss swimming is totally different. its all for yourself.

#4 how many sports teach you to have small goals? always setting them for yourself every week in swimming, whether it be for practice or a meet. working harder, trying harder, swimming faster.

#5 how many athletes are better in water than on land? bottom line, not many.

#6 how many athletes basically stay with the same team forever? yah, not many. i guess thats where swimming is really different. this will be my 8th year on cjac and when im done with school i will have spent 10 years with the most amazing people ive ever met in my life. the girls and guys on my team dont even compare to anyone ive ever met. ive spent countless hours at practice, meets, in hotel rooms, laughing, smiling, crying, yelling, doing everything with eachother. i love them all.

cjac will always be a huge part of my life.
