Via
ginmar and
neadods, this was brought to my attention (again).
So... sent to consciencecomment@hhs.gov:
I throughly and wholeheartedly object to
this proposed regulation. Conscience dictates that a person do their job to the best of their ability, not shirk the aspects of it that they dislike. Responsibility insists that people choose a job they can fulfill without moral qualms. Pharmacists know that they may be asked to fill birth control prescriptions before they finish their schooling. If they have moral qualms about that, they should change their chosen career, not force other people to adapt to their prejudices.
When I began to have moral qualms about advertising practices in a previous job, I could not ask to be given other projects. I quit and found a different career.
If a Hindu gets a job at McDonald's, they cannot ask to only fill orders for chicken products. A plumber cannot demand to only be given jobs fixing heterosexuals' toilets. A cable installer cannot decide only to install for people who block the Playboy channel. Why should people who choose to become pharmacists be allowed to demand that they not have to do their entire job?
